Blink Doorbell Not Working (How To Fix/Reset)

Even though Blink is a popular and well-respected brand, it is not immune to glitches and problems that interfere with the device’s ability to work as intended. The good news, however, is that most glitches and small problems can be corrected with a simple reset of the device.

If your Blink doorbell isn’t working, perform a power reset by removing the batteries from the device and waiting 5 to 10 seconds. After this allotted time, reinsert the batteries and wait another 30 seconds before turning the doorbell back on.

Keep in mind, however, that even though a reset can help many problems, it isn’t a cure-all. If your doorbell is still having issues even after performing a reset, you will need to reach out to Blink customer service for assistance. You can contact them via the Blink website or by calling their customer support line.

Owners of Blink doorbells should also consult the owner’s manual for their specific model of doorbell. Owners’ manuals are filled with useful information, including troubleshooting steps, that can help keep your doorbell working properly for many years. It also provides you with information on how to contact customer support if needed.

Blink Doorbell Not Ringing

One of the main draws of a Blink doorbell is that it rings when someone presses the button. After all, that is the entire reason for having a doorbell. These rings help to alert you that someone is at your front door and waiting for you to answer. But what would cause a Blink doorbell to not ring and how can you fix the problem?

When your Blink doorbell isn’t ringing, check to ensure that it is connected to Wi-Fi. If the doorbell is connected and Wi-Fi is working, try replacing the batteries. Blink doorbells that are in Event Response can quickly eat up batteries.

If your doorbell is still not ringing, perform a reset on the device by removing the batteries from the doorbell and waiting 10 seconds before reinstalling them. Wait another 30 seconds before turning the doorbell back on and connecting it to your internet network.

After the reset, the Blink doorbell should start to ring. If the doorbell is still having issues, the problem may be internal and require the assistance of a repair technician. The best course of action would be to contact Blink customer support. They can assist in determining the cause and what would be the best course of action. If the doorbell is still under warranty, you may not even have to pay to have the device fixed.

Blink Doorbell Not Notifying Phone

Blink doorbells are devices that you can connect to your smart phone that notify you whenever someone rings the bell. This notification is useful, especially if you’re not home at the time. When the Blink doorbell doesn’t send a notification to your phone, however, it can leave you feeling vulnerable and not as safe.

When the Blink doorbell isn’t notifying your phone, the first thing to do is sign out of your Blink app and then back in. If you are still having issues, power cycle your smartphone, remove the Blink app, and then reinstall it back onto your smartphone.

After you have removed the app from your phone, you may also need to reset the Blink doorbell device by removing the batteries for about 10 seconds before reinserting them back into the doorbell. The red LED light will show on the front of the doorbell. This lets you know the device has been reset.

Once the doorbell has been reset, you should begin to receive notifications on your phone. If you’re still not getting notifications, make sure you have the notifications turned on for the app. This can be done by going into your notification settings on your phone and finding the Blink app. Make sure you have it turned on to accept notifications for this app.

Blink Doorbell Chime Not Working

Black doorbell at the wall

The chime portion of a Blink doorbell is the sound you hear when someone rings the bell. This noise alerts you that someone is at your front door. So it can be more than annoying when the Blink doorbell chime isn’t working properly. Thankfully, you can usually fix the problem associated with the chime of a Blink doorbell not working by calibrating the device in the Blink app.

If your Blink doorbell chime isn’t working, make sure the chime is actually compatible with the Blink system. Blink doorbells are compatible with mechanical chimes that are 16 to 24 volts AC with 50 to 60 HZ.

If the Blink doorbell is compatible with the mechanical chime, you can perform a calibration by opening up the Blink app and then select the Doorbell setting. Scroll down and click on “Mount with wiring and chime ringing”. Follow the instructions on your smartphone screen and then select Blink Video Doorbell Wired Installation. When the screen changes to the Chime Setup section, click on “Test Sound”.

Once the sound has been tested, you are left to either select whether the chime sounds good or not. If you click that the chime sounds good, then that means you are fine with the way the chime sounds and alerts you. If you select no, you will have the option to increase or decrease the power of the chime.

Another thing to consider is that mechanical chimes are usually much louder than digital chimes. If you’re still having issues hearing the chimes even after calibrating the device, you may need to replace the chimes currently installed in your home. Just make sure you purchase newer mechanical chimes that are compatible with the Blink doorbell.

Blink Doorbell Light Not Working

Black doorbell at the wall

Unlike other brands of smart doorbells, Blink doorbells do not always have a light that stays constantly on. In fact, only hardwired Blink doorbells will have a light that is constantly on. Battery-powered Blink doorbells do not have this feature. This is because the light, which isn’t a necessity, would only use up useful battery life.

A Blink doorbell light that isn’t working doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong. Hardwired doorbells will have a light, while battery-operated doorbells will not. If the light only comes on every so often, that is usually a sign that the doorbell has a poor connection.

The Blink video doorbell has a ring that surrounds the doorbell button. This ring is an LED light that flashes red when it is trying to connect. It will also shine during the initial setup or if you make any changes to the system, as well as during the restart process. And while both hardwired and battery doorbells will have the same LED light, only the hardwired version will stay on.

If you’re unsure as to whether or not your Blink doorbell should have a light, or not sure whether the doorbell is hardwired or battery-operated, consult your owner’s manual or reach out to Blink customer support for assistance.

Blink Doorbell Live View Not Working

Using touch screen phone

Blink doorbells offer a live view, which lets you see in real time what is taking place on your porch. This is a great way to see the exact person who is at your door. When the live view isn’t working, however, you can feel as if you’re left in the dark.

When the Blink doorbell live view isn’t working, the issue is usually caused by a bad internet connection. A strong, steady connection is required for the live view to work. If, however, the internet connection is down, or the connection is slow or poor, the live view won’t work properly.

Check to see if other devices are connected or if they are having issues with the network. If other devices are not connected, the issue is probably with a bad network connection.

Try restarting your router by unplugging it from its power supply for about 15 seconds. After this allotted time, plug the router back in and let it boot back up. If your internet connection is still having issues, reach out to your internet provider for further assistance.

If, however, other devices are connected to the internet, a restart of the doorbell may help correct the problem. Reset the doorbell by removing the batteries from the device and wait 10 seconds. After the allotted time has passed, reinsert the batteries and try connecting the doorbell back to the internet.

If you still cannot get the live view to work, contact Blink customer support for further assistance. The device may have an internal problem that you cannot fix and may require it to be sent back to the manufacturer. Depending on what the cause of the problem is and whether or not it is under warranty, you may have to pay for a new device or the repair cost. This is why it is important to contact Blink customer support as soon as you start to have problems with the doorbell.

Blink doorbells can be reset by performing a power cycle. This will reset the device without restoring it back to factory settings or how the device was when you took it “out of the box”. What this means is that you can reset the device without removing any customized settings you may have changed on the doorbell.

To reset the Blink doorbell you will only need to power cycle the device. This can be done by removing the batteries from the doorbell and waiting 5 to 10 seconds before reinserting them. Keep in mind that you will need to remove the back of the doorbell to access the batteries.

Once the batteries have been reinserted, the red light on the front of the Blink doorbell will flash red. This signals that the doorbell has been reset. If the doorbell doesn’t blink red, the device hasn’t been reset. You should try completing the reset process again via the power cycle steps. If the red light still doesn’t blink, contact Blink customer support for assistance.

How To Factory Reset Blink Doorbell

Factory resetting the doorbell isn’t a difficult process, but it is one that shouldn’t be done on a whim. Factory resetting the doorbell removes any and all of the settings that you have made on the device, and restores the doorbell back to factory default. Unfortunately, there may come a time when the only option is to factory reset the Blink doorbell.

To perform a factory reset on your Blink doorbell, press the reset button down until the light on the front of the device flashes red. The factory reset button is located above the battery compartment, and you will need to remove the back of the device to reach this button.

Keep in mind, however, that according to the official Blink website, a factory reset is not recommended unless advised by their customer service team. If you’re unsure as to whether or not you should perform a factory reset, contact Blink customer support before performing the task. They can take into consideration your specific situation, as well as the issue with the doorbell, and decide if a factory reset is the best course of action.

The Blink support team is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. They can be contacted via phone or through their online email support ticket process. They should be your first line of defense for any problems or issues you may experience with the Blink doorbell, or any Blink product.

A Blink doorbell camera can be reset in the same manner as the entire device, which is either by power cycling the device or through a factory reset. The process is rather straightforward and takes only a few minutes.

You can reset a Blink doorbell camera by either power cycling the device or performing a factory reset. You shouldn’t perform a factory reset without being advised to do so by Blink customer service.

To power cycle the device, simply remove the batteries from the doorbell and wait five seconds. Reinsert the batteries and then wait for the red light on the front of the device to flash.

A factory reset isn’t usually a recommended step. In fact, the official Blink website states that a factory reset should only be done if their customer support agents instruct you to do so. If you decide to perform a factory reset, you will need to press and hold the factory reset button located above the battery compartment. Keep the button held down until the light on the front of the doorbell flashes red.
