Canon began manufacturing optical equipment back in the 1930s and they are renowned for their high-quality and reliable printers. This is why it is so surprising and disturbing when your Canon printer is not working, especially when you are facing an important deadline or are needing to print something for your children’s school projects.
Usually, there are 3 areas to troubleshoot which can determine the cause of the problem so you can get up and running again for all of your printing needs. Read on to learn more about why your Canon printer is not working and what you can do about it.
If your Canon printer is not working, take steps to reset the printer. Press on Power to turn the printer off. Take off any data cables and unplug the power cord for ten minutes. Plug the power cord in again and try the printer again.
If this does not solve the problem, check to see if there are any problems with communication between the printer and your wireless network or with your router. Look to see if there are any error messages or if any lights are flashing. If there are any error messages, be sure to address these issues first.
Turn your Canon Printer off and Unplug the printer. Also, unplug your wireless router for about fifteen seconds and then re-plug it. Now, try to plug the printer back in and press Power. You can also try to disable any firewalls that are on your computer.
If your printout indicates that your connection is Active, and you see an indication that the Network Settings are BJNPSETUP, then it means that your Canon Printer’s Network connections are back to being reset to the factory default settings. After this, go ahead and reconnect to your wireless network.
If the test printout indicates that you have an inactive connection and that it is not showing the correct wireless network name, you will need to reconnect the Canon Printer to the wireless network. Also, if you do have a VPN also known as a Virtual Private Network, attempt to disconnect from it and then try the printer again.
