An LG refrigerator can make loud noises due to several reasons. Disruptions in the Smart Diagnostic System can result in humming, rattling, or disrupted airflow sounds. Misalignment of the Fresh Air Filter and its housing mechanism can cause a popping or crackling noise. Linear Compressor failure can also lead to loud noises during operation.
In general, something in the drip tray is causing the odor, there are invisible particles causing smells on the surfaces of the compartments, trays, racks or walls of your fridge, or something spilled or leaked and the smell is stored in the ice, producing an odor during the defrost cycle.
How to fix an LG refrigerator that isn’t turning on depends on what is causing the problem. Since the most common culprit is a power issue, the fix may be merely replacing the old power supply cable with a new one. Or it could require rewiring the wall outlet if the problem is the electrical outlet.
You can reset an LG refrigerator by unplugging it from the wall or turning off the circuit breaker. This will allow the power to dissipate and the memory will clear. After waiting 30 seconds, reestablish the power and then wait for the unit to fully start. Your LG refrigerator is now restarted.
As a general rule, first ensure that it’s getting power by testing the wall outlet with another device. Then check that the temperature is on the right setting and adjust as necessary using the control panel. Once that’s done there’s a few other steps to perform.
An LG fridge most commonly will not work because of issues with airflow between the fridge and freezer compartments. This can be caused by the vents becoming blocked by ice or stored food, or by a broken evaporator fan. Other causes include the wrong settings on the fridge or broken components.
Generally, it’s because the freezer is not set to the correct temperature. LG recommends that the freezer temperature be set to -4°F (20°C). The digital display on the front of your fridge can be used to set the temperature. Simply press the freezer temperature button.
The water supply line can be replaced with a new one fairly easily. But, the water supply line might have been set too high and may have caused the line to burst or crack. Other times the line could have bent back on itself and weakened it in such a way that it breaks.
Generally, fixing it yourself is very difficult and it’s best to hire a technician to repair an LG ice maker flap that isn’t opening. To repair it the front needs to be removed to expose what’s called a solenoid, but it requires experience with electrical wiring.
It’s either the water supply line or the water filter. If the water supply line is leaking, or the water is turned off then your ice maker won’t fill with water. Also, if the water filter is blocked, water won’t be able to get through and into the ice maker.
