Hisense TV YouTube Not Working

Hisense has a range of smart TVs available that offers many streaming services, including the YouTube app. However, if your YouTube app is not working, this takes away your ability to watch hours of free entertainment on your big screen. In this article, I will discuss a number of problems that can occur with the Hisense YouTube app and how you can fix them.

YouTube may not work on a Hisense TV if the firmware is outdated, your internet is poor or too slow, the cache is full or the YouTube server is down. Some videos will not play because they are not available in your region. You may also need to check the TV audio settings if the sound does not work.

You can follow step-by-step instructions below to fix each of these issues. You may also be surprised at how many objects in the home can prevent YouTube from working.

Hisense TV YouTube Not Working

When an app such as YouTube stops working on your Hisense TV, there are some general troubleshooting tips that fix the problem in most circumstances. This includes resetting the TV or reinstalling the YouTube app, which I will explain below. Otherwise, you can find more specific troubleshooting tips throughout this article.

Reinstall the YouTube App

Step 1: Press the ‘Home’ button on your remote.

Step 2: Open the Google Play Store.

Step 3: Navigate to ‘Manage Apps & Devices > Installed’.

Step 4: Find the YouTube app.

Step 5: Select ‘Uninstall’.

Step 6: Restart your TV.

Step 7: Navigate back to ‘Manage Apps & Devices’ (in Google Play).

Step 8: Select ‘Manage’.

Step 9: Find the YouTube app.

Step 10: Select ‘Install’.

Reinstalling the YouTube app will automatically clear any small errors that occur in the system and will clear the cache, which can become overloaded and crash the app. Once reinstalled, you will also have the latest YouTube firmware.

Hard Reset the TV

Step 1: Unplug the TV from the power.

Step 2: Press and hold the ‘Power’ button on the TV for 30 seconds.

Step 3: Wait another 10 minutes to fully discharge the power.

Step 4: Plug the TV back into the wall.

This will clear any small errors that have occurred in your Hisense TV. It will not erase any of your content or settings.

Factory Reset the TV

Step 1: Press the ‘Home’ button on your remote.

Step 2: Navigate to ‘Settings > Storage and Reset > Factory Data Reset.

Step 3: Wait for the TV to fully reboot and follow the on-screen instructions.

Keep in mind that a factory reset returns your TV to its original settings. This includes erasing all data/apps that have been downloaded as well as your saved preferences. It’s a very effective method of troubleshooting, but usually a last option.

Hisense TV Won’t Play YouTube

Some videos on YouTube will not play because they are not available in your region. Videos need to comply with local laws and sometimes the owners of the videos may make them available in some regions and not others for licensing rights.

If other YouTube videos play normally, this is likely the issue. If all videos are not working, there could be issues with the internet, which I will explain further down. Otherwise, you should try updating the firmware on your TV and YouTube app.

Update your Firmware

To update your Hisense Android TV manually, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Press the ‘Settings’ (cog) button on your remote.

Step 2: Navigate to ‘All > About > System Update’.

Step 3: Select ‘Detect’.

Step 4: If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions.

Some Hisense TVs do not allow you to update the firmware manually. If this is the case, you can enable automatic updates using the method below.

Step 1: Press the ‘Settings’ button on your remote.

Step 2: Navigate to ‘Support > System Update > Auto Firmware Upgrade’.

Step 3: Ensure this function is enabled.

You should also consider updating the YouTube app on your TV. This can be done through the Google Play Store.

Step 1: Press the ‘Home’ button on your remote.

Step 2: Open the Google Play Store.

Step 3: Select the profile icon in the top right of the screen.

Step 4: Select ‘Manage Apps & Device’

Step 5: Find the YouTube app.

Step 6: Select ‘Update’.

Hisense TV YouTube Not Loading/Opening

The YouTube app will not load or open if you do not have any connection to the internet. This could mean the internet is not connected at all or the signal is dropping out.

Restart the Modem

Step 1: Unplug the modem and router (if you have one).

Step 2: Wait at least one minute.

Step 3: Plug the modem back into the power.

Step 4: Wait for the modem to fully reboot.

Step 5: Plug the router back into the power.

Restarting the modem is very simple and usually fixes most internet connection issues. Sometimes small errors can occur and re-establishing the connection is enough to solve the problem.

Move the Modem Closer

Moving the modem and router closer will ensure that your WiFi signal is as strong as it can be. For the best signal, have the modem/router in the same room as your TV, but at least one foot apart.

If there is a greater distance between the modem/router and your TV, make sure they are less than 30 feet apart. Any further and you may need to consider a WiFi booster or using Ethernet cabling in your home.

Minimise Interference

Interference can come from several different sources in your home. First make sure none of the following solid objects are not in the way of your modem and TV.

· Metal

· Floor heating systems

· Water (such as an aquarium of in-built hydronic system)

· Thick timber or concrete walls.

You should also consider how many other devices are transmitting a wireless signal in your home. The devices below can transmit signals that may interfere with your WiFi.

· Microwaves

· Radios (such as baby monitors)

· Bluetooth devices )(such as headphones)

· Other WiFi networks

Check your Service Provider

Your service provider may also be experiencing technical difficulties. If you have tried the methods above and you have no internet connection, call your provider to make sure they are not performing maintenance or having any issues.

YouTube Frozen or Keeps Freezing on Hisense TV

If YouTube is freezing on your Hisense TV, it might be due to outdated software. Regularly updating your TV’s firmware can resolve compatibility issues with apps. Navigate to the TV’s settings, select “System,” then “Software Update,” and follow the prompts to update if a newer version is available.

Another reason YouTube might freeze on a Hisense TV is due to cached data buildup. Over time, the accumulation of cached data can cause apps to lag or freeze. To clear the cache, go to the TV’s settings, select “Apps,” find YouTube, and choose “Clear Cache.” Restart the TV and open YouTube to see if the issue is resolved.

A third potential cause for YouTube freezing is a weak or unstable internet connection. Streaming videos require a stable connection, and if the signal is weak, it can lead to buffering or freezing. Ensure your TV is within range of your Wi-Fi router, and consider using a wired connection if possible. If other devices are also experiencing slow internet, you might need to reset your router or contact your internet service provider.

Check your Internet Speed

Slow internet connections cause YouTube to freeze while it is buffering. This is the process of downloading video content while you watch. If the download speed is slower than the playback speed, your video will keep freezing.

You can check your internet speed on your computer through any speed testing website, such as Speed Test, or by downloading their app to your TV. Once the test is complete, you should compare your network’s download speed to that recommended by YouTube. There are different requirements for different video qualities, which you can find below.

· Standard Definition 360p: 0.7MB/s

· Standard Definition 480p: 1.1MB/s

· High Definition 720p: 2.5MB/s

· High Definition 1080p: 5MB/s

· Ultras HD/4K: 20MB/s

Slow internet can sometimes be improved using the internet troubleshooting methods mentioned above. However, keep in mind that Ethernet connections will always provide the fastest download speeds available on your network.

YouTube Not Connecting on Hisense TV

When YouTube is not connecting on your Hisense TV, you should try all the troubleshooting methods mentioned in this article. However, if these do not work, there may be an issue with the YouTube servers. Every so often YouTube may need to perform scheduled maintenance on their servers.

The server may also be overloaded by traffic if too many people are connecting at the same time. Either way, you can check YouTube’s server status online through websites such as Down Detector, or you can call YouTube support.

Hisense TV YouTube No Sound

The first thing you should check is that the volume is turned up on your TV or speaker and that you have not accidentally muted the sound altogether. Otherwise, it may be the audio settings on your TV.

To reach the audio settings, look for the ‘Sound’ option under ‘Settings’. Once in the sound menu, you should make sure the following settings are set to standard mode or turned off.

· Sound Mode (Standard)

· TotalSonics (Off)

· TotalSurround (Off)

· Total Volume (Normal)

You should also make sure the speaker setting is correct, whether you are listening through the TV speakers, or through an external speaker.

Hisense TV YouTube Black Screen

Many users have experienced a black screen when using the YouTube app on a smart TV or gaming console, such as the PlayStation or Xbox. This is a known bug in the app which YouTube developers are attempting to fix.

In order to fix a firmware bug, you will need to wait for the next update to become available. For this reason, you should always make sure both your Hisense TV and YouTube app are up to date. You can find these processes at the beginning of this article.
