There are a few different types of resets that can be done, and each is applicable to different issues you can have with your Alcatel tablet. So, below I will cover step by step when and how to do the different kinds of reset on an Alcatel tablet.

The additional options that come up are the different kinds of resets you can do on your Alcatel tablet. You want to do a normal reset to fix most issues. But, in some cases you will want to do a factory reset.

To do that first select ‘recovery’. Then it will ask you to select the language. After that it will give you a further list of options. These are:

1. Reboot system now

2. Apply update from ADB

3. Apply update from sdcard

And 6 other options. To factory reset your Alcatel tablet select ‘wipe data/factory reset’. Which is typically the 5th option on the list. Press the power button to confirm it.

A soft reset is different from a hard reset. A soft reset doesn’t delete anything on the phone, whereas a hard reset will wipe all of the data. In order to do a soft reset on an Alcatel tablet here’s what you should do.

In general, press and hold the power button and the volume up button at the same time until a list of options shows on the screen. Select ‘normal’ and then select, ‘reboot system now’. It will soft reset your Alcatel tablet, and return to the home screen.

Alcatel states on their official website that you use the volume up button. But, I’ve found that on some models you need to hold the volume down button instead of the volume up button. Try holding the volume up button and the power button first. If nothing happens after 10 seconds, then hold the volume down and power button at the same time instead.
