How To Reset Asus Tablet Stuck On Loading Screen

Confused woman standing

A tablet is of no use if you are not able to get past the loading screen. Unfortunately, this is a common problem with tablets. Here are some reasons why this is the case.

For one, our tablets are used a lot. Most of us are using our tablets more these days than in times past. With all this use comes battery usage. If the tablet does not have enough battery power to start, the tablet will remain stuck on the loading screen.

Another reason is if something happened during the startup of the tablet. When the tablet is powered on, the operating system quickly inspects everything, making sure every component within the tablet is working.

If something happens during this process, the tablet will not reboot on the loading screen. A button that was accidentally pressed can confuse the operating system and it becomes stuck on the loading screen

Oftentimes, the only way to fully resolve operating issues with an Asus tablet is by performing a full reset of the tablet. This should be done as a last resort since it will result in all personal information and data being deleted from the tablet, especially if it is not backed up somewhere more secure.

Step 2: Simultaneously press and hold both the ‘Power’ button and the ‘Up Volume’ button.

Step 3: Continue holding both buttons until the Asus logo appears on the screen.

Step 4: The tablet is now in ‘System Recovery Mode’.

Step 5: Press the ‘Down Volume’ button to navigate to ‘Wipe Data/Factory Reset’.

Step 6: Press the ‘Power’ button to select ‘Wipe Data/Factory Reset’.

Step 7: Press the ‘Down Volume’ button to select ‘Delete All User Data’.

Power Button

Another common reason why an Asus tablet becomes stuck on the loading screen is if there is an issue with the power button. The Power button can become stuck inside the tablet case.

The following steps will walk you through how to inspect the Power button and how to resolve the issue if the button is indeed stuck.

Step 1: Remove the SD card from the tablet.

Step 2: Use a sturdy flat tool or plastic pick to loosen the tablet face. You will hear the case click as it is disconnected from the back of the tablet.

Step 3: Remove the back of the tablet.

Step 4: Disconnect the battery to completely remove power from the tablet.

Step 5: Press the Power button to make sure it is able to freely move.

Step 6: Replace the battery pack and press the Power button again to see if the tablet turns on.

Step 7: Examine the power button while the tablet cover is still removed. Remove any debris that could hinder the power button.

Oftentimes the gap between the power button on the tablet and the plastic trigger on the motherboard is too large and the button becomes stuck. Place a small piece of rubber on the back of the plastic power tab to fill in that gap. This will prevent the power button from ‘falling’ into the case.

Step 8: Reconnect the battery pack.

Step 9: Test the power button by pressing it and seeing if the Asus tablet screen now turns on.

Step 10: Return the back cover and power the tablet on.
