How To Reset Wyze Doorbell

Wyze makes a wide range of doorbells, and doorbell cameras that work very well. But, from time to time they can have issues, and resetting it is typically the first step to rectify any issues you have with your Wyze doorbell. In this article, I will cover how to do the different kinds of resets for Wyze doorbells.

As a general rule, disconnect it from the power by turning it off at the switchboard. After that, hold down the power button on your Wyze doorbell for 10 seconds. Then reconnect the power by turning the circuit breaker back on, and then press the power button to turn it on.

There is also a factory reset that you can do which will wipe all the settings. Below, I will explain how to do that, as well as, when this should be done. And then cover how to reset other Wyze devices such as a Wyze cam, and a Wyze chime.

How To Reset Wyze Doorbell

A Wyze doorbell is an electronic device, and like all electronic devices they can have glitches. Restarting electronic devices is a great way to fix a range of issues with your Wyze doorbell. So, here’s how to do a reset on your Wyze doorbell.

Generally, disconnect it from the power. This is done by turning it off at your switchboard. Then hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Following that, turn the circuit breaker back on, and press the power button to turn it back on.

A factory reset is different and will wipe all of the settings. Wyze has stated not to do a factory reset, without first contacting Wyze support. The reason is it may not be necessary to factory reset your Wyze doorbell.

It can also wipe all of the settings, and you’ll need to input them again. After doing a reset it can be necessary to re-pair your Wyze doorbell in the Wyze app. To do so is very simple.

Open the Wyze app, and it will have a ‘+’ sign. Press this to add a Wyze device. A Wyze Cam needs to be put in pairing mode first before it will show as a device that you pair.

Refer to this article on the official Wyze website for how to put a Wyze Cam in pairing mode. If your Wyze device is not showing when you press the ‘+’ on the Wyze app, it needs to be put in pairing mode. Refer to your owners manual, or to the official Wyze website for how to put it in pairing mode.

Wyze doesn’t provide an online version of their owners manuals. But, for many models they provide the equivalent info if you search for your specific device on their website.

How To Factory Reset Wyze Doorbell

If you’re giving away your Wyze doorbell, or Wyze customer support has asked you to do a factory reset then a factory reset needs to be done. Below are instructions for how to do that.

Overall, hold down the power button down for 3 to 5 seconds. It will say ‘reset successful’. The WiFi light will first red, then will be solid yellow. Once it’s fully reset the WiFi light will flash yellow. You can now set your Wyze doorbell up again.

Wyze says it’s generally not a good idea to do a factory reset unless it’s for one of the reasons above. And rather it’s best to do a soft reset if it’s having issues.

How To Reset Wyze Doorbell Cam

A Wyze doorbell cam is a very good safety device for your home because it streams video in HD of who is at your door. Like all electronic devices it can sometimes have issues that require it to be reset. Here’s instructions for how to reset a Wyze doorbell cam.

In general, power cycle your Wyze doorbell, and your WiFi router to reset it. To power cycle it you need to turn it off at the circuit breaker on your switchboard, then hold down the power button for 10 seconds. After that, turn the circuit breaker into the on position, and turn it back on.

To reset your WiFi router you unplug it at the wall, disconnect the power cable at the back, or turn it off using the power button. Wait for about 10 seconds and then plug it back in, connect the power cord at the back of your WiFi router, or turn it back on. It typically takes a few minutes for your WiFi router to fully connect to the internet.

How To Reset Wyze Doorbell Chime

A Wyze doorbell chime has 19 different tones that you can use for your doorbell. They can be purchased separately as a stand alone device or come included with a Wyze cam or Wyze doorbell. If it’s not working, or isn’t working it’s a good idea to reset it. Here’s how to do that.

As a general rule, disconnect it from the power, hold down the power button, and then reconnect the power and turn it back on. If the issue persists it’s best to do a factory reset. But, Wyze recommends contacting their support team before performing a factory reset.

After resetting it, it’s possible that it still won’t work correctly, or won’t connect to your doorbell. In that case you should unpair and re-pair it to your Wyze doorbell. This is done through the Wyze app.

If you don’t already have it download it for the Google Play or iOS App Store.

In the app select + sign. For a Wyze cam there is a button at the back you need to press to put it into pairing mode. For other Wyze chime or Wyze doorbell, reset your Wyze device again to put it into pairing mode.

Select the WiFi network for your home. It will then ask you to sign into your WiFi connection by putting in your WiFi password. After that your Wyze device will be fully set up and you can adjust the settings, and monitor it using the Wyze app.

What To Do if Wyze Doorbell Won’t Reset

Resetting your Wyze doorbell, Wyze cam, or Wyze chime only involves a few simple steps. However, after doing a reset you can find that nothing happens. In that case, here’s what you should do if your Wyze doorbell doesn’t reset.

In general, you should contact Wyze support. If you have reset it correctly it will always reset. Make sure, you’re following the correct procedure which is to disconnect it from the power by turning it off at the switchboard, and holding down the power button for 10 seconds.

It’s possible your Wyze doorbell has a fault that is covered by the warranty. In general, it’s best to get in touch with Wyze to have them advise you what to do.

Typically, if you reset it, it will reset without any issues. So, it’s likely something is wrong with one of the internal components on your Wyze doorbell.
