Bluetooth headphones are a major improvement on wireless headsets, but they can present users with a few problems from time to time.

We’ve all experienced connectivity and pairing problems with our JBL headphones. So here are a few quick ways to fix some of the problems you may encounter.

If your JBL headphones are not connecting or pairing with one of your devices, make sure that the headphones appear on the list of available Bluetooth connections. If you can’t find them, then the headphones are not in pairing mode. Press the Bluetooth button to force pairing mode.

You will find the Bluetooth button located on the headphone’s right ear cup.

To turn on pairing, press the Bluetooth button for three seconds. Keep holding the button for the full three seconds and the headphones will enter pairing mode.

Sometimes the JBL headphones will still not appear on the list of Bluetooth devices after pressing the button to put it into pairing mode. If this happens to you, you’ll need to reset your headphones.

You will also have to clear the Bluetooth settings profile from the list on your device.

To clear the Bluetooth settings on your device, go to your Bluetooth settings menu. You can do this by using the settings icon in your app tray or in the control center.

If you’re removing the profile from your android mobile device, you can swipe up from the bottom of your screen and select the settings icon. Then navigate to the “Connections” menu item and under “Bluetooth”, select the “gear icon” next to your JBL headphones.

At the bottom of your screen, you’ll have the option to unpair your headphones. Tap “Unpair” and confirm your selection by tapping “Unpair” again. A message will pop up telling you that you will have to pair the headphones the next time you want to connect to the headphones.

JBL Headphones Not Connecting/Pairing to Mac

It is quite common to experience a few problems when trying to connect via Bluetooth to your macOS device.

Here’s a simple fix for this annoying problem.

When JBL headphones won’t connect to your macOS device, select the Apple menu and tap on System Preferences. From the menu, select the Bluetooth option. A list of Bluetooth devices will appear, from which you select your JBL headphones and click Connect. Confirm the selection by clicking Accept.

If your JBL headphones are not on the list of devices, you may need to press the headphone’s Bluetooth pairing button and hold it for three seconds.

This will switch the Bluetooth headphones to pairing mode and they should appear on the list of devices available on your Mac. You can then follow the process of pairing the JBL headphones with your device.

Also, check that your headphones are fully charged. A low battery charge or a dead battery will prevent your headphones from operating properly and successfully pairing with the Apple device.

JBL Headphones Not Connecting/Pairing to iPhone/iPad

It is not uncommon for JBL headphones to fail to connect to an iPhone or iPad.

However, the solution to the problem is usually quick and easy.

If your iPhone or iPad is not pairing with or connecting to your JBL headphones, check to see if the headphones appear in the list of Bluetooth devices on your Apple device. If they do not appear on the list, press and hold the Bluetooth pairing button for 3 seconds, then pair the headphones.

If your headphones fail to pair with your iPhone or iPad, you’ll need to reset your connection. Often, when using your headphones with another device, it will interfere with your connection to the Apple devices.

You must remove the JBL headphones from the other device before trying to pair them with your Apple devices.

You may find that the JBL headphones don’t appear on the Apple device’s Bluetooth list at all, even after trying to pair them. You will then have to reset your headphones to the factory default settings.

To reset to factory settings, press the up and down volume buttons and hold them for ten seconds.

This will switch your headphones off and then restart them in pairing mode. You can then enter your device menu and pair the headphones normally.

In the unlikely event that this does not work and the headphones still do not appear on the list of available devices, you may have a faulty headphone transmitter. You’ll have to replace the headphones or send them to the manufacturer for repair.

JBL Headphones Not Connecting/Pairing to Windows Laptop/Computer

Everyone is aware of the problems that occur with Windows updates and when new versions of Windows operating software are installed.

Often, when your JBL headphones fail to connect or pair with your Windows PC or laptop, it is related to an operating system problem. Windows often doesn’t recognize the headphones as audio devices but rather as a phone or other device.

When this happens, the headphones will fail to work at all.

When your JBL Bluetooth headphones fail to connect or pair to a Windows laptop or PC, run the troubleshooter. Type “Troubleshooter” in the Windows search bar and select “additional troubleshooters”. Click the “Playing Audio” option and select “Run Troubleshooter”.

Windows will then use a diagnostic program to find any possible problems and repair them.

You can also run the “Bluetooth Troubleshooter” under the “additional Troubleshooters” menu.

If your Bluetooth connection still does not work, then you may not have Bluetooth services running in Windows.

To check this, type “Services” into the Windows search bar.

Then sort the window by name and search for the Bluetooth Support Service entry. Double click the service entry and a window will open. From the drop-down menu, under “Startup Type”, select “Automatic”.

You can then click Start, Apply and OK and if the service is already running, then select “Restart”.

Once the service has restarted, you can enable Bluetooth in the settings menu.

Right-click the Windows “Start” icon in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen. Select “Settings” and then click on “Devices”. Under “Bluetooth and other devices”, check that the slider indicating that Bluetooth is enabled is on.

When the slider is in the “On” position, you should see your JBL headphones in the list of devices.

If you don’t see your headphones in the list of Bluetooth devices, you can add them by selecting “Add Bluetooth or other device” at the top of the “Bluetooth and other devices” window. You can click on the “+” sign to open the options menu.

Plug your headphones into the USB port and make sure that they are switched on. Select the first Bluetooth option on the menu by left-clicking on it. This will bring up a list of devices. Choose your JBL headphones from the list, making sure that you pressed the Bluetooth button on your headphones, after which, Windows will automatically pair the device.

Once pairing is complete, click “Done” and your headphones should be available for use with your Windows PC or laptop.

How to Fix JBL Headphones Not Connecting

While the process of connecting Bluetooth devices is relatively straightforward, it can sometimes take a few tries to get it right.

To fix your JBL headphones when not connecting to your other devices, make sure that the headphones are fully charged. Then press the Bluetooth button and hold it for 5 seconds. You should see the headphones on your pairing device’s list. If it does not appear, then reset your headphones.

Before resetting your JBL headphones, go into your device’s Bluetooth list and remove the headphones from the pairing list. This will ensure that you start with a clean install once the headphones have been factory reset.

Now that your phone or laptop is disconnected from the headphones and Bluetooth is turned off, turn on your JBL headphones.

Press and hold both the “+” and the “-“ volume buttons on your headphones for 5 seconds. You will then notice that the LED on the headphones will start to flash. This is an indication that the headphones are now factory reset.

The headphones will be in pairing mode, so all you have to do is switch the Bluetooth option on. The headphones will then appear on the list of available Bluetooth options.

If you have the kids’ model JBL headphones, then the process to fix the connection problem is a little different.

You’ll want to leave the headphones powered on. Make sure that the Bluetooth option is turned off on your device.

Plug the headphones into their charger, making sure that the charging light is on and showing white. Then unplug the USB cable which should turn off the headphones. Turn the headphones on and wait for the LED to start flashing blue. This will take about 5 seconds and lets you know that the headphones are in pairing mode.

Turn on Bluetooth in your device settings and follow the procedure to pair the headphones again.

JBL Headphones Keeps Disconnecting

Black latest and modern black headphones

A common problem with JBL headphones is that they keep disconnecting.

The problem, however, is not the headphones’ fault and can be easily fixed.

If your JBL headphones keep disconnecting, then you most likely have a low battery charge. When the battery runs down, the headphones will disconnect from your devices. Put the headphones on charge for an hour or 2 and your connection problems will be resolved.

The other reason your headphones may be disconnecting is because of a weak Wi-Fi signal. Weak signals are caused by either a fault with your device or because you are too far away from the device.

While your Bluetooth connectivity can extend up to about 30 feet (9m), this will depend on what obstacles there are in the way. If you have obstacles in the way, either a wall, metal surfaces, or even people, it can degrade your signal and cause you to lose connectivity.

To solve the problem, try moving closer to your device and avoid having any obstacles between your headphones and the device.

How to Fix JBL Headphones Keeps Disconnecting

There are various reasons that your JBL headphones may keep disconnecting from your device.

To fix JBL headphones that keep disconnecting from your devices, make sure that they are fully charged first. A low or dead battery will cause your headphones to disconnect. You should also stay within at least 30 ft (9m) of your device. Avoid placing objects between your headphones and the device.

Bluetooth headphones will only work properly when they are fully charged and within the maximum distance for the class of device.

If you are using them in an area with a lot of electromagnetic “noise”, then the signal may not be strong enough when the device is far away from the headphones. In this case, the signal will drop and you will lose connection.

If you are in another room and there is a brick or concrete wall between you and your device, your headphones will struggle to pick up the signal, and the connection will be lost.

To fix the problem, keep the distance between your JBL headphones as close as possible and avoid trying to listen to your device from another room or in an area where there are a lot of people.

You should also avoid leaving your headphones paired with other devices.

If you get within range of another device that is paired with your headphones, that device will try to connect with your headphones. This may cause the headphones to lose the signal to the device you are listening to.
