Rheem Water Heater Heating Problem

One of the worst problems is when you find that you don’t have sufficient hot water because your Rheem Water Heater is not working properly. Luckily, careful troubleshooting can lead you quickly to the cause of this problem so that you can rapidly fix it.

Rheem Water Heater not Keeping Water Hot

Rheem Water Heater not Getting Gas

If your Rheem Water Heater is not getting gas, it could be from a malfunctioning gas valve.

If you want to know how to fix your Rheem Water Heater not getting gas, go ahead and open the gas line. You can do this by turning the handle so that it is parallel to the gas pipe. Then, be sure to turn the Gas Control Knob to the Pilot Position.

Be sure to push the Gas Control Knob in. At this point, you might be able to hear a slight hissing sound.

Rheem Water heater not Lighting

If your Rheem Water Heater is not lighting, it could very well be due to a blocked gas line.

If you want to know how to fix a Rheem Water Heater not lighting, first, turn off the gas.  Then, use a small wrench to disconnect the pilot supply tube. Now, be sure to clean it out using compressed air. If this does not solve the problem, you may need to repair or replace the entire gas valve.

You can also try to light the pilot and if you see that the pilot light is starting but is then going out, you can check for any drafts in the room that could be blowing the pilot light out.

If you do not find any drafts, go ahead, and check the vent. The vent should extend out approximately eighteen to twenty-four inches above the roof line.

Check to see if it has any obstructions. In addition, if the vent is too short in length, any breeze, even a very light one, will be able to blow out the pilot.

Rheem Water Heater Igniter Won’t Start

If your Rheem Water Heater Igniter won’t start, the burner will not be able to light either.

If you want to know how to fix your Rheem Water Heater Igniter, check to make sure that there is sufficient voltage that is getting to the Igniter. If the Igniter is indeed receiving the appropriate voltage, check to see if it is glowing.
