If your dishwasher refuses to run, it’s a good idea to check that the drawer is properly packed and that the door is closing completely.

Often, crockery or cutlery may prevent the door from closing fully. This in turn will prevent the dishwasher from running.

If the door fails to close, remove the crockery and cutlery and repack it so that the contents don’t interfere with the door locking mechanism.

You should hear an audible click sound when you close the door which will let you know that the door lock is fully engaged.

Try pressing the start button again to check that the dishwasher is operating correctly.

Fisher and Paykel dishwashers are known for their ease of use and repair.

The double drawer design makes them easy to work on and, with minimal disassembly, you can get to all the most important parts.

The reset button on a Fisher and Paykel dishwasher is two buttons. The “key” button and the lock button. Push them both together for 3 seconds and it switches the dishwasher off. Then push the power button and the power will switch off. Push the power button again and it resets the dishwasher.

The control panel and buttons are hidden on the top edge of the dishwasher drawer. They are not visible when the draw is closed.

Pull the draw open and you will have easy access to the buttons to reset your dishwasher.

Once you have selected the type of dishwashing cycle you want, press the start button. You can also engage the delayed wash cycle by pressing and holding the start button. Repeatedly pushing the button will make the delay longer.

The dishwasher is automatically turned on when you open the drawer. To switch the dishwasher off, press and hold the start button.

How To Reset Flood Switch On Fisher Paykel Dishwasher

One of the more common problems you will experience with your dishwasher is the flood switch activating.

To reset the flood switch on a Fisher and Paykel dishwasher, you must empty the water from the base pan. To do this, tilt the dishwasher at a 45° angle and allow the water to drain out into a towel. Once the water has drained away, put a little water into the dishwasher and switch it on.

If the problem is solved, the water will be pumped away and the dishwasher pump will stop. You can then pack the dishwasher and select a wash cycle.

The flood switch prevents water from overflowing your dishwasher and is located in the base pan.

The flood switch is connected to a polystyrene float that activates the on/off switch when the level of water in the base pan rises.

The cause of the water rising is either a blocked drain, a damaged drain pump, or a leak in a hose.

If the problem re-occurs, you will have to trace the source of the leak or the cause of the blockage.

Check the hoses and the hose clamps to see that none of the fittings have worked loose.

Often the filters will clog and you need to clean them before the dishwasher starts working again. If you use too much detergent or soap in the dishwasher, it may cause the water to overflow.

Follow the instructions concerning the type of dishwasher cubes or liquid dishwashing soap you use for your dishwasher.  It is also critical that you don’t use liquid soap in the cube tray as it will not meter the right amount of soap for the volume of water used.

How To Reset Fisher And Paykel Dishwasher F1 Error

A common error that occurs when water pools at the bottom of your dishwasher is the F1 error.

To fix the F1 error on a Fisher and Paykel dishwasher, remove the rack and take the drain filter out. Clear any debris in the drain and clean the drain filter thoroughly. Once clean, check that the drain pump impeller is not damaged and reinstall everything.

Sometimes, debris can lodge in the drain and prevent the water from exiting the dishwasher. Once it is cleaned away, the water will drain properly.

However, there will still be water in the base pan that you will have to remove.

Use a towel or tip the dishwasher forward to drain the water. Once the water is removed, the flood switch will deactivate and your dishwasher will work properly again.

If the drain pump is faulty, check the electrical connection to ensure that the pump is getting power.

Also, check the impeller to see that it is not worn and in need of replacement.

You may find that there is debris stuck in the impeller that is preventing it from working properly. Remove any obstructions and replace the drain pump.

If the pump fails to operate, make sure that the base pan is empty of water. The flood switch may still be activated by the water in the base pan. You must drain it first before the dishwasher will again.
