Hi, my name is Eric. For those that are curious… here’s a little about me.
I’m a husband to a wonderful wife and a father to two cute little girls. Several years ago we were fortunate enough to move into a house in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Like many, I became a new and proud homeowner, and I was eager to start making our house our forever home. This included changing and replacing things around the house to make it more our own.
To my surprise, I quickly learned that these home improvement changes didn’t come cheap, especially when they involved hiring people. Painting, landscaping, even replacing a toilet seemed easy enough, but the quotes for these kind jobs seemed absurdly expensive.
You see, I’m kind of a cheapskate. That doesn’t sound too nice, does it? Maybe frugal and thrifty are better words to describe me. I try not to spend money where I don’t need to. I like to save. And these odd end jobs seemed simple enough for me to do. They just required time, a little research and some initial investment in tools that I could keep for myself and use again and again in the future.
So this blog is a documentation of my journey. I’ll write out what I’ve learned while researching different things and share my experiences while working on different projects. I hope that what you read here will inspire you to “do it yourself” too, and that you will feel empowered to take on new home improvement projects.
Best,
Eric
