Installing bamboo flooring is fairly easy, and there is more than one way you can install this versatile flooring option.

There are two methods of installation you can consider for your new bamboo flooring over your concrete floor. You can either glue the flooring in place or you can opt for a floating floor method. Both are good ideas, so you can choose the best option for your home.

Here’s a closer look at the two methods you can choose from:

With this method, you’ll be gluing the bamboo flooring in place on the concrete floor. You can opt for engineered bamboo flooring or solid bamboo flooring. Both are good for this installation method.

You will have to make sure that the glue you use is of the highest possible quality to ensure that the flooring doesn’t come loose later on. Choose an adhesive that also provides the concrete flooring with a layer of water resistance. Typically, it will also provide good sound insulation.

You should start in the corner of the room and make your way toward the door to avoid unnecessary difficulties. Also, make sure the flooring runs parallel to the longest wall in your room for an attractive appearance.

Use your trowel to spread the adhesive, but don’t use too much at one time because it will dry pretty quickly.

Make sure that you leave about a quarter-inch of space between the wall and the new flooring to prevent pushing the flooring too tightly onto the wall. Place the flooring in the pattern you like most and leave it so the glue can dry.

You should leave the new flooring for at least a day so the glue can set properly and then clean the new floor before using the room.

Floating Floor

This installation method is best for engineered bamboo flooring and the click-lock technique. For this installation, you will have to lay a moisture barrier before you start.

You will also have to choose the right type of underlay for your floating bamboo floor. Once you have the underlay, roll it out across the room. Next, start laying your new bamboo flooring. If you are using click-together bamboo, you don’t have to do much. Simply click and lock the flooring’s joints together.

If the flooring is of the tongue and groove type, you will have to glue the joints together to make sure the flooring remains in place. To achieve a natural appearance with your bamboo flooring, be sure to stagger the planks. That way, it looks more attractive.

For the floating floor method, you need to make sure you have a big enough gap around the perimeter of the room.

That is all you need to do, and you should now be able to clean the new flooring so you can use the room as intended.
