Dryer Not Working

Are you having a problem with your dryer? If it isn’t working, it may be a power problem.

Auto dry shuts the machine down automatically when it detects the clothing is dry. You may need to switch to a manual cycle under certain circumstances.

If you are seeing any standing water in the dryer, it’s an issue that needs to be addressed all on its own. Dryers do not use water and they don’t have a water hookup.

Are you feeling frustrated because your dryer is shutting off? You certainly are not alone

The most common reason why a dryer will shut off is that the vent is blocked. When the vent is blocked, your dryer is not getting adequate ventilation and it will shut down to cool off. A blocked dryer vent is more than an inconvenience, it is a fire hazard.

Along with having your dryer vent clogged, it may also be an issue with the moisture sensor. If you are running your load on a auto dry, moisture sensors determine when the load is dry.

If the sensor is not operating properly or if you are running a light load, it may shut off the dryer because it isn’t detecting moisture in the area.

A door switch is also a common reason why a dryer keeps shutting off. The door switch turns the dryer off when the door is open but if it is failing, the vibrations from the dryer will cause it to disconnect and shut the dryer down.

When your dryer is not working, always check the power supply first. This would include inspecting the power cable and receptacle, along with verifying that the breaker or fuse has not been turned off or blown. Otherwise, it could be a problem with the control board, belt, thermal fuse, or the motor.
