Can You Cut Baseboard With Table Saw?

Tools to cut Baseboard

Cutting baseboards is crucial in the process of installing a baseboard. Once the baseboard extends to a corner, it must be cut at a forty-five-degree angle. As this baseboard connects with another piece of the baseboard at a corner, it must also be cut at a forty-five-degree angle so that there is a perfect ninety-degree angle formed at the corner in question.

If you want to know how to cut a baseboard with a table saw, be sure to carefully hold the baseboard against the table saw cutting blade. Bring the cutting blade down until you can see that it has only one tooth above the thickest edge of the baseboard.

Now, be sure to loosen the lock level which is on the front part of the Table Saw. Go ahead and turn the wheel that is immediately next to the lock lever until you can see that it is set at a forty-five degree angle off to the right.

Then, hold the lock lever so that it tightly holds the blade in its correct place.

At this point, measure the space that is between the remaining piece of baseboard and the nearest corner.

Make your cutting line and then lay the piece of baseboard right on to the Table Saw. Line the cutting line up with the Table Saw  and then cut through the baseboard with the cutting blade of the Table Saw.

Can You Cut Baseboard With Circular Saw?

Tools to cut Baseboard

It is difficult but very possible to cut baseboard with a circular saw. The only caveat is that you will have to tilt the bottom part of the circular saw to a forty-five-degree angle and will need to use a speed square to cut the proper angles.

If you want to know how to cut baseboard with a circular saw, you will also need to have a speed square available. The speed square will allow you to clamp the end of a piece of baseboard so that you can cut either forty-five or ninety-degree angles on the baseboard.

Go ahead and carefully clamp the baseboard piece to the end of a sawhorse facing down. Make sure that the end part of the baseboard that you want to cut is sticking out at least six inches over the end of the sawhorse.

Then, take a six-inch clamp to try to stop any extensive splintering.

Mark the baseboard exactly where you want to cut it. Now, take the speed square and line it up flat on the baseboard. Make sure that the forty-five-degree angle marker is directly aligned with the line you drew on the baseboard piece.

Go ahead and set the blade depth on the Circular Saw. It should not be set more than one quarter inch deeper than the depth of the baseboard.

Hold the Circular Saw using the handle and place it directly on the edge of the baseboard. Now, pull the trigger and then push the Circular Saw in a forward direction, being sure to keep the blade tightly against the speed square.

Then, use a smooth movement to cut straight through the baseboard and be sure to release the trigger.

You can often use a miter saw to cut baseboard effectively. A miter saw is especially effective when cutting the corners on baseboard molding.

If you want to know if you can cut baseboard with a miter saw, the answer is yes, you can. First, go ahead and fit one end of the baseboard into the corner on the inside corner of either the wall or the door casing. Then, draw a line vertically up the posterior surface of the baseboard.

Now, using the outside corner of the baseboard, draw a cut line for the miter Saw. Set the miter saw to an angle of forty-five degrees. Now, cut each of the miters about 1/16th inch longer than you will need.

Then, press both cut boards against the wall and check the location where they are to join together.

If the area of join is too tightly adherent, use a sanding block to remove any excess wood that is apparent.

A chop saw swings up and down from one position to make repetitive cuts in a specific location on the baseboard. Chop saws are mainly used to produce repetitive cuts in the baseboard that do not have requirements for an angle greater than ninety degrees. Using a chop saw to cut through a baseboard will usually take longer than when using other types of saws.

If you want to know if you can cut a baseboard with a chop saw, first, mark out your cut line on the baseboard. Then, set the Chop Saw at the forty-five-degree mark and lock it down and then make the cut. For the next cut, swing the Chop Saw over to the other side and set it also at forty-five-degrees.

Then make this cut. This will result in a nice, tight corner between the two pieces of baseboard.
