Miele Dishwasher Light Flashing/Blinking

Miele dishwashers are smart dishwashers. They are designed to be easy to use and intuitive. One great feature of Miele dishwashers is that they have a diagnostic system. While many dishwashers can be a guessing game when it comes to troubleshooting issues, your Miele dishwasher has a number of set codes for different troubleshooting issues that your dishwasher may be facing.

If your Miele dishwasher light is flashing, several different factors could be behind this. Depending on the issue that is affecting your Miele dishwasher, you may see a different pattern or combination of flashing lights.

Miele Dishwasher Intake Drain Red Light Blinking

When looking at your Miele dishwasher, just under the dishwasher cycle indicator, you will notice a light that is marked ‘Inlet/Drain’. Over time, if you do not regularly clean out your Miele inlet/drain, you can accumulate a build-up of food debris. You can also run into issues if you’ve run a cycle of dishes that had noticeable amounts of food present.

If your Miele dishwasher intake drain light is blinking, the first area to check is your circulation motor impeller. You can locate the motor in the sump area of your dishwasher. To access your sump area you need to remove the filter. After you’ve removed the filter, you can use a tool to enter the circulation motor impeller.

What you want to do is to try and rotate your circulation motor impeller. The reason that you run into issues is either due to a blockage, or it can also be because the motor has become stuck. Once you get your motor cleaned out and unstuck, the light on the front of your Miele dishwasher should stop flashing.

Miele Dishwasher All Lights Flashing

When looking at your Meile dishwasher there are a number of different lights on the front. While they are labeled to let you know what the specific issue you’re facing is, you may notice that all of the lights are flashing at once.

If your Miele dishwasher has all of its lights flashing, it’s an indication of an F01 error. This means that the temperature sensor has a short short and may need to be replaced. To do this you need to take off the kick panel that is located at the base of your Miele dishwasher. Once you’ve taken this off you will see a bundle of wires. The blue wire is the temperature sensor wire.

You want to remove both that and the electrical connector and ensure that they are clean. As with all wiring, over time it is possible for dust or debris to build up in your connection ports. You can use compressed air to spray your connections clean, just ensure that you are using it at least ten inches away. Any closer and you can damage your connections with the pressure.

If the issue is not related to your Meile dishwasher connections, it could be due to the temperature of the water from your water heater. If your water is above 120°F, this can trigger your Miele washer to shut off.

Miele Dishwasher Yellow Lights Flashing

When your Miele dishwasher lights are flashing, it can be confusing as to where to begin. The good news is that Miele has codes that can make it easier for you to determine and troubleshoot the problem.

If your Miele dishwasher has yellow lights flashing, check the display screen for the code. This will alert you to the issue. One of the most commonly displayed codes is F11. This means that you are facing an issue with the way that your Miele dishwasher is draining. You should check for any debris that is blocking the filter by removing and cleaning it.

Another common issue can be codes that alert you to water temperature. This can be an issue with your temperature wires, which can be found under your Miele dishwasher kick panel, or due to your water heater. Temperatures that are too low or too high can cause you to get a warning.

To reset your Miele dishwasher alerts, first hit the ‘Stop/Finish’ cycle button. Then, press and hold the Start/Stop button for at least 60 seconds before releasing it.

Turn your dishwasher off and back on again. Try running it while empty. You should no longer see flashing lights.

Miele Dishwasher Rinse Aid Light Flashing

While you may think that a rinse aid is an unnecessary addition to your Miele dishwasher, this is not the case. Rinse aid is designed to work with detergent, water, and dirty dishes to make them cleaner. It helps the water and debris come off of your dishes easily. This means that you will have cleaner dishes with less evidence of soap scum.

If your Miele dishwasher rinse aid light is flashing, you need to refill your rinse aid. When you open your Miele dishwasher, you can locate your rinse aid compartment on the inside of the door. It is the compartment directly next to the area where you put your detergent. Pour your rinse aid in until the window turns black.

Once the rinse aid compartment is filled properly, screw the cap back in. You should notice that your lights will no longer be flashing.

Miele Dishwasher Salt Light Flashing

While it may seem strange that your dishwasher will have a salt light, there is a good reason behind it. Your Miele dishwasher needs salt to function properly. Adding salt to your dishwasher further prevents the build-up of leftover film or soap scum that could be left behind by your dish detergent.

If your Miele dishwasher salt light is flashing, you need to open your dishwasher and pull the bottom drawer out. To the right side, you will see a white cap. This is the salt compartment. Unscrew the cap and so a funnel, as to not spill salt elsewhere, pour salt into the salt compartment.

You don’t need to add too much, you just want to be able to see the level. After that, screw the cap back on. Close your dishwasher and attempt to run it again, you should notice that the light is no longer flashing.

If you find that after fixing the issue the lights are still flashing, you can reset your dishwasher. To reset your Miele dishwasher alerts, first hit the ‘Stop/Finish’ cycle button. Then, press and hold the Start/Stop button for at least 60 seconds before releasing it.

Turn your Miele dishwasher off and back on again. Try running it while empty. You should no longer see flashing lights.
