Even though your Bradford white water heater is designed to be durable, you may occasionally run into issues where it does not properly heat your water. In most cases, this is due to issues that would be preventable by regular maintenance.

If your Bradford white water heater is not heating, several issues can be behind the issue. The main areas to check if your Bradford white water heater is not heating are to check the source of power, the connections, the pilot light, and leaks. Power issues are prominent because of the high level of power that your Brandford white water heater draws. It can easily trip your circuit breaker.

The next area to check is your connections. Whether it is over time, or if you have recently done maintenance, it is easy for connections to come loose. When checking your connections, it is also a good rule of thumb to clean them off. Debris and dust can get stuck and prevent them from working properly.

Using compressed air, at least ten inches away, blow any debris out from your connection ports before reattaching them. If these solutions do not help, your issue is most likely with your thermal calibration, which will need to be replaced to right the issue.

Bradford White Water Heater Not Igniting

If you notice that your Bradford white water heater is not producing the desired heating results, the problem may be with your pilot light. If your pilot light does not ignite, your water heater cannot heat your water to your desired temperature. There are a few issues that can cause your pilot light to not ignite.

If your Bradford white water heater is not igniting, you first need to remove your cover plate. Your status light on your control panel above the cover plate should be blinking frequently. If it is not, it’s an indication that your pilot light is not lit. To turn your pilot light on, turn the red dial on your control panel down to pilot.

Keep the red button depressed until you see your flame come on or if your status light stops blinking.

If this process does not work, you may need to reset your Bradford thermostat. To do this, you want to look at the large red dial on your control panel. Turn the dial to very hot, leaving it there for ten seconds, then turning it to hot and leaving it there for ten seconds. You then want to filter through the temperature settings, being sure to leave the dial there for at least ten seconds before moving to the next one.

You should notice that your light will begin to flash and your pilot will ignite.

Especially if you live in a household that has more than one person, not having enough hot water can be frustrating. The good news is this is usually a simple fix that is related to the settings on your Bradford white water heater.

If your Bradford white water heater is not generating enough water, look at the control panel on the front. This panel will have a large red dial and a red power switch. Check to see what level the water temperature has been set to on the dial. You can turn it up to increase the amount of hot water that you receive.

Your Bradford water heater may not be displaying any warning lights or signs of loss of power, but is still not functioning properly. You may notice that you have no hot water, or that your hot water disperses quicker than usual. This may be as a result of the gas supply to your Bradford white water heater.

If your Bradford white water heater is not getting gas, you need to check your connections. A loose gas connection is not only dangerous due to the release of carbon monoxide, but also poses a fire risk. Check the back of your Bradford white water heater to make sure it is properly attached.

If you notice any build-up or corrosion on the connections, they should be cleaned or your lines should be replaced.

Bradford White Water Heater No Spark

If you try to light your Bradford white water heater and there is no spark, your first thought may be the igniter. While the igniter can be faulty or burn out over time, there are a few other areas that you should look at first.

If your Bradford white water heater has no spark there could be an issue with the pilot light and the combustion chamber. If there is a build-up of debris in your chamber where your pilot light lights, it can choke out your pilot light. Fire needs oxygen. If the area around your pilot light is dirty, you most likely will not see a spark.

If this does not solve the issue, you may need to replace either the thermocouple or the pressure switch. The thermocouple controls the current power source of your igniter.

If you have power switch issues, you will be unable to control the temperature. Before replacing your power switch, try running a reset on your Bradford white water heater.

To reset your water heater, locate the large red dial on your control panel. Turn the dial to very hot, leaving it there for ten seconds, then turning it to hot and leaving it there for ten seconds. You then want to filter through the temperature settings, being sure to leave the dial there for at least ten seconds before moving to the next one.
