This allows Dell laptop owners the ability to expand the capabilities of their laptop and tailor their use of the device to fit their exact needs, such as connecting headphones. If you go to plug your Dell laptop headphones in and notice that they are not being detected, how can you get them to be recognized?
If your Dell laptop headphones are not detected, ensure the Waves Maxx Audio application has been enabled. To do this, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Apps’ > ‘Startup’ and confirm that the application has been set to ‘ON.’ Once on, test to see if your headphones are easily detected.
If enabling the Waves Maxx Audio application does not cause your headphones to be detected, it could be that you need to enable more applications that are related to Relatalk. These settings include the HD Audio Background Process and the Realtek HD Audio manager. To enable these applications, simply go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Apps’ > ‘Startup Apps,’ find both applications, and be sure they have been set to ‘ON’ as well.

When considering the function of headphones when plugged into a Dell laptop, many will find themselves using such an accessory simply for what it can provide as far as sound goes, however, most headphones are capable of much more. If you are in the middle of a game or about to start an online call, you should be able to use the microphone installed within the headphones to easily communicate, but what if this feature is not working?
If your Dell laptop headphones microphone isn’t working, it could be that the drivers need to be updated on the device. To do this, go to dell.com/support/drivers, find the laptop model, select ‘Check for Updates’ when found, click ‘Download’ then follow the instructions to install.
