How to Fix Delay/Lag/Slow Response with Hulu

Hulu provides an impressive content lineup consisting of both TV shows and movies that is probably only second to Netflix in popularity. Oftentimes, when Hulu does become delayed or sluggish, it is because either the Hulu App has become outdated or because there are issues with Hulu’s server’s being offline. Another cause of the slow response with Hulu could be because of some other errors on the Hulu App.  When you determine that Hulu has become slow and sluggish, it is time to quickly and accurately troubleshoot the cause of this problem so that you can fix it immediately.

Delay or lag on Hulu is often caused by slow internet speeds. Streaming services like Hulu require a stable and fast internet connection. To fix this, test your internet speed to ensure it meets Hulu’s requirements. If it’s below the recommended speed, try resetting your router, moving closer to it, or connecting via Ethernet cable for a more stable connection. Improving your internet speed can significantly reduce streaming delays.

Another factor could be an overloaded device cache. Over time, your streaming device accumulates temporary data that can slow down app performance. Clearing the cache can often resolve this. For most devices, this option is found in the settings menu under ‘Storage’ or ‘Apps’. After clearing the cache, restart the device and open Hulu again to see if the issue is resolved.

You can check for app updates in your device’s app store and for firmware updates in the device’s settings menu. Keeping everything up-to-date ensures optimal performance and can often fix lag issues.
