How To Connect Samsung TV To Samsung Soundbar

You can connect your Samsung TV to a Samsung soundbar wirelessly or with an HDMI or optical cable connection. Samsung soundbars allow you to enjoy your favorite movie or you can connect your smartphone and enjoy music from your favorite streaming service.

Samsung soundbar’s offer a variety of ways to connect to your Samsung TV. You will see step-by-step how to connect using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, an HDMI or Optical cable.

Bluetooth

The advantage of connecting your TV and soundbar via Bluetooth is that there are no cables to connect and then try to strategically hide. Connecting your soundbar via Bluetooth requires a strong and stable internet connection.

The steps outlined below will walk you through how to connect your Samsung TV and soundbar together.

Step 1: On the soundbar, press the ‘Source’ button.

Step 2: Set the soundbar to the ‘BT’ (Bluetooth) setting.

Step 3: When ‘BT Ready’ appears on the soundbar, press and hold the ‘Source’ button until you see the message ‘BT Pairing’ appear.

Step 4: On your Samsung TV, go to ‘Settings’.

Step 5: Go to ‘Sound’.

Step 6: Select ‘Bluetooth Speaker List’.

Step 7: Find your soundbar and then select ‘Pair and Connect’.

Wi-FI

The advantage of using a Wi-Fi connection over a Bluetooth connection is that you can have multiple connections between the TV and soundbar. There are quite a few steps in connecting your TV and soundbar together but the steps below have been broken down and are easy to follow.

Step 1: On the soundbar or soundbar remote, press the ‘Source’ button.

Step 2: Select ‘Wi-Fi’ mode.

Step 3: Connect the TV and your mobile device to the same Wi-Fi network.

Step 4: On your mobile device, download the ‘Samsung SmartThings’ app.

Step 5: Open the app and select the ‘Add’ (+) icon.

Step 6: Select the device you want to add.

Step 7: Select ‘AV’.

Step 8: Select the soundbar you are adding and then tap ‘Soundbar’.

Step 9: Tap ‘Start’.

Step 10: Select the room and location of the soundbar.

Step 11: On the TV, go to ‘Settings’.

Step 12: Select ‘Sound’.

Step 13: Select ‘Sound Output’.

Step 14: Select ‘Wi-Fi’. Your soundbar is now connected to the Wi-FI.

HDMI

Connecting your Samsung soundbar to the TV with an HDMI cable is the preferred method. The reason being, an HDMI cable can transit newer, higher resolution audio, such as Dloby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio, giving you the best audio quality possible.

Step 1: One end of the HDMI cable will connect it to the back of the TV in the port labeled HDMI IN (ARC).

Step 2: The other end of the HDMI cable will connect it to the soundbar port labeled HDMI OUT (TV-ARC).

Step 3: Power on the soundbar and set the audio source to D.IN. Audio from the TV will now play through the soundbar.

Optical Cable

Optical cables transmit audio digitally, much like its HDMI counterpart. They do not support the newer, higher resolution audio but your soundbar will still sound great.

You can connect the soundbar with the optical cables by doing the following.

Step 1: Turn on both the TV and the soundbar.

Step 2: On the soundbar, press the Source button.

Step 3: Set the soundbar to the D.IN setting.

Step 4: Connect one end of the optical cable to the Optical Out port on the TV.

Step 5: Connect the other end of the optical cable to the Digital Audio IN (Optical) port on the soundbar.

Step 6: On the TV, go to ‘Settings’.

Step 7: Go to ‘Sound’.

Step 8: Select ‘Sound Output’.

Step 9: Select ‘Audio Out/Optical’. Audio from the TV will now play through the soundbar.

How To Connect Samsung TV To Bose Soundbar

You can connect Samsung TV to a Bose soundbar a variety of ways. For the best audio quality, the preferred method is using an HDMI or HDMI Arc cable connection. You can also use an optical cable or, for older Bose surround systems, you can use a basic auxiliary cable.

The two preferred methods of connecting the Bose soundbar to your Samsung TV is either using Bluetooth or an HDMI cable.

Bluetooth

Using a Bluetooth connection for the Samsung TV and Bose soundbar is a great option for not only avoiding cables and wires, but also pairing other devices like your smartphone or other music streaming devices.

You will not have the same high quality sound as you would with an HDMI connection, but you can enjoy movies and listening to music.

Step 1: On the soundbar itself or on the soundbar remote, press the ‘Pairing’ button.

Step 2: Turn on the Samsung TV and go to ‘Settings’.

Step 3: Go to ‘Sources’.

Step 4: Go to ‘Connection Guide’.

HDMI

Step 4: Turn on both the TV and Bose soundbar.

Step 5: On the TV, go to ‘Settings’.

Step 6: Go to ‘Source’.

How To Connect Samsung TV To Sonos Soundbar

Sonos is the more affordable option of soundbar but that doesn’t mean the sound is a lesser quality. Sonos soundbars produce high-quality, crisp sound that rivals its more expensive competitors.

With a Sonos soundbar, you can connect to your smartphone, even your computer, which means you can enjoy great audio while gaming or simply listening to music. One downside to the Sono soundbar, though, is that it does not support Bluetooth.

Currently, the only ways to connect the Sonos soundbar, also known as Playbar, to your Samsung TV is with either and HDMI or Optical cable.

HDMI

Connecting the soundbar via HDMI is simple. Before starting, you will need to download the Sonos app to complete the setup.

Step 1: Take one end of the HDMI cable and connect it to the back of the TV using the port labled HDMI Arc/eArc.

Step 2: Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the soundbar.

Step 3: Make sure the HDMI CEC setting on the Samsung TV is turned on – for example, Samsung (Anynet+).

Step 4: Open the Sonos app on your smart device and follow the in-app instructions to complete the setup.

Optical Cable

Your Sonos soundbar will come with an Optical cable. The steps outlined here will walk you through connecting the soundbar to your Samsung TV. Before you begin, take a few minutes to download the Sonos app on your smartphone.

Step 1: Connect one end of the Optical cable to the soundbar and the other end to the Samsung TV.

Step 2: Turn on both the TV and the Sonos soundbar.

Step 3: Open the Sonos app on your smartphone.

Step 4: Go to ‘Settings’.

Step 5: Select ‘Add A Sonos Component’.

Step 6: Using the Sonos remote, press both the ‘Mute’ button and the Up Volume (+) buttons together until instructions appear in a pop-up box on the TV screen.

Step 7: The Sonos soundbar should now have a green light come on to notify you the app and soundbar are connected.

Step 8: Follow the on-screen instructions to continue connecting your Sonos soundbar and TV.

You can connect your Samsung TV to a Sonos soundbar by first downloading the Sonos app to your smart device. Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘System’ > Click on the location of your Sonos soundbar > select ‘TV Setup’ > follow the in-app instructions to complete the setup.
