How to Fix Samsung Tablet Not Connecting to Wi-Fi

Samsung is a very reliable company and they make some of the best tablets on the market. Even though that is the case, there may still be times when your tablet is not connecting to the Wi-Fi. What can be done?

1. Force Reboot the Device – in many cases, rebooting the device is going to fix the problem but your Samsung device may just be going into sleep mode and not actually fully rebooting. That is why you should reboot it manually.

If you have a power key on the device, press and hold the power key for 30 seconds or until the screen goes black. Wait for 60 seconds and then press the power key again. If you see the Samsung logo on the screen, it was restarted successfully.

If you do not have a power button on your tablet, you may have to swipe down from the top with both fingers and tap the power icon. Another option, if you can access the battery, is to remove the battery and put it back in again.

2. Manually Add the Network – This is a rather tricky option but it is one that can work in some cases. Sometimes, the network may disappear and you can’t get back on again but if restarting the device doesn’t work, you can manually add it.

You have to get someone who understands the settings associated with the network to help walk you through the process. More than likely, the network has become hidden at this point so you will have to work your way back through it step-by-step.

3. Check for Third-Party Apps – If you recently added a new app to your Samsung tablet, it may be interfering with the ability to connect to the Wi-Fi. This is also something that can happen, at times, when an app updates.

You can work your way through the apps, deleting those that you don’t use regularly first or any that you have installed or updated in the past few days. Once the Wi-Fi connects again, you have found the culprit.

We rely on our Wi-Fi to keep us connected. We probably use it more often than we realize but we don’t often think about it unless the Wi-Fi stops working. What can you do if it is no longer connecting to your tablet?

The first thing you should do when you have a problem with the Wi-Fi connection is to restart the tablet. This can be done by going through the settings or by pressing and holding the power button until it automatically restarts.

Restarting the tablet is going to refresh the settings and the signal. If you are close enough to the Wi-Fi and everything is going well, it should solve the problem quickly and easily.

1. The Tablet Needs To Be Rebooted

Small errors can occur on the tablet that would eventually interfere with the Wi-Fi. These same errors may also cause other problems on the tablet that would eventually build up over time. In either case, the solution is the same.

Sometimes, the easiest way to fix a problem with a tablet not connecting to the Wi-Fi is to turn the tablet off and back on again. It may sound simplistic, but it works in almost every case because it refreshes the settings and allows things to go smoothly again.

If the tablet is frozen, you may need to hold down the power button and the volume down button at the same time for up to 30 seconds. Sometimes, you may just push the power button for 30 seconds. Once the tablet starts restarting, allow it to finish and then check the Wi-Fi again.

2. WiFi Has Been Turned Off On Your Device

In order for the Wi-Fi to work on any device, it needs to be able to speak to the router. As long as the Wi-Fi is working at the router, it is putting out a continuous signal and will connect with any known device once it is in range.

The problem is, it is possible to turn the Wi-Fi off on a tablet or any other electronic device. If that is the case, it will not be looking for any Wi-Fi signal in the area and it will not connect, no matter how close you are.

Slide down the menu from the top of the screen and check the Wi-Fi option. If it has been turned off, simply tap the Wi-Fi to turn it back on again. Otherwise, long press the Wi-Fi and then turn the slider bar on in the screen that pops up.

3. Wi-Fi Has Been Disconnected At The Router

If you are having difficulty getting the Wi-Fi to connect to your tablet, you may want to check other devices in the home. It may not be a problem with the tablet, it could be a problem with the Wi-Fi.

If no device, including computers, phones, or Roku devices are connecting to the Internet, then the problem is likely with your Internet. The easiest way to fix the problem is to turn the Internet off and back on again.

Unplug the modem and router and disconnect all cables between them. Leave them disconnected for 60 seconds and then plug them back in again. After they cycle on, the problem should be fixed.

4. You Have A Tablet Case That Is Blocking Signal

If you have a brand-new case for your tablet, it may be the problem that is keeping your tablet from connecting to Wi-Fi. Some cases present interference in that way.

In almost every case, the Wi-Fi will be able to connect if you are close enough to the source of the signal, the router. If you have a new case and it is blocking the cycle, it may not be possible to get as far away from it as possible earlier.

Remove the case, restart the tablet and try to connect to the Wi-Fi again.

5. You Have Moved To An Area Where The Signal Is Weak

If you are in a part of your home and the signal is weak, you may not be able to connect to the Wi-Fi. This could be due to anything from a microwave oven to medical equipment that is operating in the area.

Move as close as possible to the Internet modem and router setup. This should show if you are actually connecting to the Wi-Fi or if it is disconnected altogether.

Stay within range of the Wi-Fi if it is a problem. Otherwise, you may be able to get a booster that can improve the signal and allow you to get further away from the router.

6. There Is Interference In The Area

Finally, interference can cause difficulty with connecting to the Wi-Fi. We tend to think of interference as being something electronic but actually, anything can provide interference.

If you move into another room, you have a wall between yourself and the Wi-Fi signal. If there is something else between you and the signal, from a refrigerator to a hot water heater, it can also provide interference that keeps the signal from getting to you.

The easiest way to test this is to move as close as possible to the Wi-Fi source. If you are able to connect without any problem, then you have found the issue and should move on from there.
