How to Reset LG Tablet

A common fix for many issues on electronic devices is to either reset the device (soft reset), or do a factory reset which wipes everything on the device. Today, I will explain how to do both types of resets.

In general, to do a soft reset press and hold the power button. It will give you the option to power off, or restart your LG tablet. Tap restart on the touch screen, and your device will reset. To do a factory reset refer to the instructions below.

A factory reset should only be done in a few circumstances so before explaining that I will cover how to backup the data, and what will get lost if you do a factory reset.

How to Reset LG Tablet

An LG reset will fix issues with specific apps, as well as network and bluetooth issues. It’s very effective at fixing most issues with your LG tablet. So, here’s how to do a reset on your LG tablet.

As a general rule, a soft reset is done by holding down the power button while your device is turned on. It will display three options, the second option is ‘restart’. Press that and your LG tablet will restart.

This causes all of the apps, and the operating system on your LG tablet to open from scratch which is very effective for solving a range of different issues with your LG tablet. Here’s instructions for how to do a soft reset on an LG tablet.

Overall, press the power button on your LG tablet until the touch screen shows ‘power off’ and ‘restart’. Press ‘restart’ using the touch screen. You can also select power off, and then power it back on again. But, a restart is easier.

Doing so will close all of the apps, and the operating system. When it restarts the operating system will start fresh, and any apps that open on startup.

How Do I Hard Reset My LG Tablet?

A hard reset also called a factory reset reverts an LG tablet back to how it was when it was brand new. All of the settings, profiles, and passwords will be completely removed. There are a range of reasons why a hard reset should be done on an LG tablet, so here’s instructions for how to do it.

There are two buttons you need to hold, the volume up button and the power button. But, first power off your LG tablet. With it turned off hold the power button and volume up button, and wait until the LG logo appears. After that, do the following.

As soon as the LG logo appears, you need to let go of the power button and then hold it again. When doing so, you need to continue holding the volume up button. It can take 1 or 2 tries to do it with the right timing. As you only have about a 3 seconds window to do it.

After that the screen will say would you like to erase all user data and & restore default settings. Select ‘yes’ using the volume up and volume down buttons, and then press the power button to make the selection. It will then do the factory restart, and after a minute or two return you to the home screen.

How Do I Reset My LG Tablet Without the Password/Forgot Password?

The password for an LG tablet is required to view the home screen where you can use the settings to do a factory reset. A soft reset can be done, however, if you’ve forgotten your password you need to remove it. Here’s how to remove the password and reset your LG tablet.

In general, the only option is to do a factory reset. But, doing so will wipe all of the data on your device. To do a factory reset power off your device using the power button. Then hold the power button and volume up button until the LG logo appears, additional steps explained below.

Once the LG logo appears, stop holding the power button but keep holding the volume up button. Then press and hold the power button again. This needs to be done very quickly. If you do it right the screen will ask you if you want to wipe all the user data, and settings on your LG tablet. Navigate to yes using the volume up and volume down button. And press the power button to confirm your selection. It will do a factory reset.

How to Reset Network Settings on LG Tablet

When you try to connect to a WiFi network, or turn on mobile data it can not connect. Even after you try turning WiFi or mobile data off and on again. Resetting the network settings can fix this issue, this is how to do it.

In general, open the Settings app by selecting it from the home screen. Then select ‘setting & restart’. After that, select ‘network settings reset’ from the list of options. Then select ‘reset settings’ on the bottom right of the screen. Then tap, ‘reset settings’.

When you do that it will also reset the Bluetooth settings. You will also need to put in the password to your WiFi connection again. If it still does not connect to the WiFi, then reset your WiFi router. Or restart your LG tablet.

How to Reset LG Tablet Password

There are two places where there will be a password for your LG tablet. It can either be the password for your Google account, or the password for the device. Here’s how to reset the password for your device.

Generally, if you know the password already it can be changed in the settings. Open the Settings app, then select ‘lock screen’. After that select ‘screen lock type’. It will ask you to put in your current password. Then you can set either a new password, pin, or pattern.

But, if you don’t know the password you will need to do a factory reset. However, this will delete all of the settings and saved data on your device. Details on how to do that are covered a bit further up in this article under the heading ‘How Do I Hard Reset My LG Tablet’.

How to Reset LG Tablet Without Google Account

There are a lot of apps, and settings that can only be changed with the password for your Google account. If you want to use a different Google account, reset your Google account or have forgotten your Google account password, here’s what to do.

As a general rule, you should do a factory reset. However, this will delete everything on the device. To a factory reset power off the device. Then hold the power button and the volume up button until the LG logo appears on the screen. There are a few more steps required, which are explained below.

Then let go of just the power button and then hold it again very quickly. When you do that, keep holding the volume up button, only let go of the power button briefly before pressing it again. It will then ask you if you want to reset everything, and wipe all data. And give you the option yes or no. Select yes, and your LG tablet will factory reset.
