How to Use/Reset Ecobee Thermostat

The Ecobee thermostat is an amazing device you can use to keep your home at a comfortable temperature at all times. However, you may need to perform actions such as resetting, rebooting, calibrating, or something else. Fortunately, the device is simple to manage.

To use the Ecobee thermostat, you can install the Ecobee app onto your smartphone by downloading it from the Google Playstore or iOS app store. Once you have the app installed, you can perform a variety of actions. You can also operate the thermostat using the hardware itself.

You can operate the unit with ease by touching some of the icons on the screen. For example, you can touch the flame on the middle-upper part of the screen if you’d like to go to the mode menu. The menu will then give you the option for “Heat,” “Cool,” “Auto,” and “Off.” To turn the thermostat back on, you can press the “Off” button on the same spot where the flame is located when the unit is on. This will be directly on top of the large temperature indication number.

The “Auto” feature will turn the thermostat on if it senses that it needs to, according to the temperature ranges. To adjust the desired temperature, you can use your thumb to press the small circular temperature indicators to the right of the large temperature indicator. You can then slide them upward or downward to decide what temperature you’d like your home to be and set temperature thresholds. The heat will come on if your home’s temperature gets colder than the number you enter in the settings. The air conditioning will come on if the home’s temperature gets hotter than what you have set as well.

The cloud button on the bottom middle of the screen is there for you to register your device or set it up for remote usage. The unit also has a wheel menu on the bottom right of the screen that allows you to make quick changes, such as fan settings and swift updates to your home and away status. The three-bar menu button on the bottom left of the screen is what you will use to get to the bulk of the menu options. You’ll see options for menu categories, such as “Registration,” “System,” “Sensors,” “Schedule,” “Comfort Settings,” “Vacation,” and more.

Touch the fire or snow icon right above the large temperature numbers to open up the menu that will allow you to turn the device off. Select “Off,” and the unit will turn off. Wait a minute or two and then touch the screen area where it says “Off.” That will re-open the menu you need to turn the device on. Your thermostat will go through its necessary processes to reboot.
