When your Jenn Air fridge won’t turn on, there are a few things to look into first. Typically, it’s something simple such as a setting, or a button that needs to be pressed. Here is why a Jenn Air fridge won’t turn on, and how to get it to turn on.

After that, press the ‘cooling’ button to set your Jenn Air fridge to automatic, it can take 24 hours to completely cool.

Below are each of these steps in detail, as well as, what to do if you try all of these steps and it still won’t turn on.

1. Ensure it’s plugged in and the wall outlet is supplying power

The first and one of the easiest things to check is that the wall outlet is supplying power to your fridge. Take a look at the wall outlet, and double check your Jenn Air fridge is plugged into the wall outlet. If it is but it still won’t turn on, then turn off the wall outlet – if it has a switch – and then unplug your Jen Air fridge.

After that plug something else into the same wall outlet. Doing so, will tell you if the wall outlet is working or not. Easy things to use are a lamp, or a smartphone charge plugged into a phone.

When a different device also won’t get power it means the fuse at the switchboard has clicked into the off position. It needs to be turned back on.

This is something that commonly happens due to a power surge, or other electrical issue, and will immediately restore power to the wall outlet. Provided, there are known tripped fuses at the switchboard for your home, then move on to the next step.

2. Verify the control panel is lighting up, and press the ‘cooling’ button

Virtually all Jenn Air fridges have a digital display and control panel. It has about 10 buttons or so that are used to change the settings on your Jenn Air fridge. Take a look at the control panel on your Jenn Air fridge, and see if it has any lights, or text showing on the display.

3. Wait 30 minutes it might be doing an automatic defrost

A Jenn air fridge has an automatic defrost setting that from time to time will start. When this happens your fridge won’t cool. The entire cycle takes 30 minutes.

So, provided your Jenn Air fridge is turned on, and ‘cooling’ is set to on, wait 30 minutes. After that, if it’s still not turning on, and you can’t hear the fan run, then do the next step.

4. It takes 24 hours to cool completely

A fridge takes a little bit of time to completely cool. If you just installed your fridge, or it has been turned off for more than 24 hours or so, it will take another full day and night (24 hours) for it to cool to the temperature that the control panel is set to. Simple, wait 24 hours and check the interior of the fridge is now cool, and your Jenn Air fridge is on.

The control panel has a button for Sabbath mode. If it’s pressed, your Jenn Air fridge won’t show any lights during the Saturday, according to the official Jenn Air website. To disable Sabbath mode press the sabbath mode button.

The digital display will indicate whether Sabbath mode is enabled or disabled. After that it could also be in showroom (demo) mode. Showroom mode is used when a fridge is being displayed in a store.
