A properly functioning Onn soundbar is part of the home theater experience. When the soundbar isn’t working correctly, it can make viewing films and tv shows frustrating. Also, common problems can be easily corrected if you know what to look for.

Troubleshooting a soundbar can involve a lot of trial and error because many don’t have a display or multiple controls that would help identify the issue. There are several common problems that people experience with soundbars which I will cover here. Try each of them before resorting to returning or resetting the unit to its factory settings.

Onn Soundbar Not Working

An improper connection is the most common issue so check connections first. Then try a power cycle by turning the device off for 15 seconds and then plugging it back in. This may correct the problem.

Onn Soundbar Won’t Turn On

Turning on the soundbar

When your Onn soundbar won’t turn on, you need to check to see if the indicator light is on showing that the unit is powered on. The best steps are to check all of the connections, as well as, trying the power button located on the soundbar itself rather than the remote.

If you find any damage to the ports or cables, they need to be replaced. If the soundbar turns on with the power button on the unit, the batteries in the remote may need to be replaced. Try replacing the batteries and see if that corrects the problem.

Onn Soundbar Remote Not Working

If your Onn soundbar remote is not working, the most common reason is that the batteries are dead or low. Replace the batteries and try again. If that doesn’t work, try resetting the remote by removing the batteries and pressing all the buttons for 5 seconds. Then, reinsert the batteries and try again.

Another possible reason for the Onn soundbar remote not working is that the remote is not in the correct mode. Make sure you select the appropriate device on the remote you wish to control, for example, TV for TV, DVD for DVD, etc. If the remote is in shift mode, press and release the SETUP/SHIFT button and see if the remote buttons operate properly.

If the above solutions do not work, you may need to reset your remote to the manufacturer’s settings. To do this, remove a battery from the remote and press a button with it removed. Reinsert the battery – the LED should blink twice. Press the digits 2 and 8 simultaneously within 6 seconds – the LED should blink twice. Enter the code 9 8 1, the LED will blink 4 times.

If none of these solutions work, there may be an issue with the connections between your soundbar and your TV. Check all of the connections and make sure everything is connected securely. If you find any damage to the ports or cables, they need to be replaced. If all else fails, you may need to contact Onn support for further assistance.

If the connections are secure, try a different port and cable to ensure that the port or cable aren’t damaged. If these steps don’t correct the problem, the soundbar itself may have internal damage.
