Brother printers are reliable and trustworthy, but that doesn’t mean they never experience any type of problem. The sad truth is that all brands of printers can have glitches and issues every so often. These glitches can interfere with the printer’s ability to perform printing jobs. The good news is that, in most cases, these small glitches or issues can be corrected with a simple reset.

To reset the Brother HL printer, press the Menu button on the device and then use the up and down arrows to select Initial Setup. Click on Reset and then confirm the action by pressing OK. The LCD display will show Reboot OK?. Click to confirm the reboot. The printer will reset and then restart.

If the reset doesn’t work, complete the process once more. You may need to unplug the cords running from the printer to your computer (if you have a wired printer). Once the cords have been unplugged, start the reset process by pressing the Menu button on the printer and then selecting Initial Setup on the LED screen. On the Initial Setup screen, find the Reset option and click on OK to confirm the action. The printer will reset, turn off, and then turn back on again.

It is recommended to confirm with your printer’s owners’ manual on how to reset your specific model or Brother HL printer. The owners’ manual has a slew of useful information that can help fix issues that you may experience with the machine. This includes how to properly reset the device, as well as how to contact the manufacturer for technical help. Make sure to keep this manual in a safe location.

When your Brother HL printer won’t turn on, it directly affects your ability to complete the printing jobs you need done. After all, the device has to be on in order for it to print. Before you chalk the device up as a loss, try the following troubleshooting steps to get the printer working once again.

If the Brother HL printer is not turning on, first remove the power supply from the device for 30 to 60 seconds. Press the ON/OFF button and hold down while you insert the power supply cord back onto the printer. Make sure you keep the ON/OFF button held down for 15 seconds.

Once the 15 seconds have passed, release the button and try to turn on the device. If the printer still won’t turn on, try up to 3 times. Another option is to remove the printer’s power cord for 30 to 60 seconds, and then remove the paper tray. Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on. Once the device has turned on, reinstall the paper tray.

If the printer still refuses to turn on, reach out to Brother’s customer service for further assistance. The machine may be experiencing a mechanical failure or other problem that you won’t be able to fix without the help of a repair technician.

Brother HL Printer Not Connecting

While a Brother HL printer isn’t connecting, the issue is usually caused by the printer being unable to connect to your computer due to an issue with your internet network. While this is a frustrating problem, there are a few different troubleshooting steps you can try to fix the problem.

When your Brother HL printer won’t connect, you should first check to see if other devices on your network are connected to the internet. If they are not, try resetting your router by unplugging it and waiting 15 seconds before plugging the router back in.

Wait for the router to boot back up and check to see if the printer will connect to the computer. If the printer is still not connecting to the router, and you are also having issues connecting your other devices to the internet, the issue may be with your service provider. Consider contacting them to confirm whether or not there is an outage in your area.

If the printer is not connecting to your computer and the issue is not with your internet service provider, try unplugging the Brother HL printer from its power source and waiting 60 seconds. After the allotted time, plug the printer back in and turn the device on. It may take a few minutes for the printer to fully come back online. Confirm that the printer is now connected to the computer, and print a test page.

Brother HL Printer Not Printing

The entire purpose of a printer is to print. So when your Brother HL printer refuses to print, it pretty much turns itself from a useful tool to a large paper weight. While you may be tempted to trash the printer, try the following instructions to get your printer to start printing once again.

When the Brother HL printer isn’t printing, the first thing to check is to make sure it is selected as the default printer. This can be done in the Control Panel on your computer. In the Control Panel, select Devices and Printers and make sure the Brother HL printer is selected as the default printer.

If it isn’t, simply right-mouse click on the printer’s icon and select “Set As Default Printer.” This will change the Brother HL as the default device. This means that anytime you print something, the Brother HL printer will be the machine that gets sent the printing job. If you don’t have more than one printer, this is the ideal solution. For homes or offices with multiple printers, however, you may not want to set the Brother printer as the default device. Consider this when deciding which machine will be the default printer for that computer.

A printer drum is an important part of printers that will need to be replaced periodically. If not replaced, the printer can begin leaving smudges, streaks, and blank spots on your printing jobs. After you have replaced the drum on your Brother HL printer, you will also need to reset the drum counter. Resetting the counter will not only reset the actual counter of the drum, but it will also clear the message stating “Drum Stop” or “Replace Drum” on the device’s LED screen.

To reset the drum counter on your Brother HL printer, use the up and down arrows on the printer’s screen to select Machine Info > Reset Parts Life > Drum Unit. Then click on OK to confirm. The Brother HL printer will need to be restarted to complete the reset process.

The LED screen should show the word “Accepted” to confirm the reset. When the printer has been reset, the LED screen will confirm it is ready by displaying the word “Ready.” Restart the printer and then try printing a test job. If you have any issues during the process, you will need to restart the drum counter reset from the very beginning.

In many cases, the “Replace Drum” message will appear on the printer’s LED screen when it has printed approximately 15,000 pages. For the best results, the drums of the printer should be replaced together at the same time. This helps to maintain the quality of the printing jobs. If your unsure of how to replace the drum, or feel uncomfortable trying to replace the part, reach out to Brother customer service. They can locate a service repair technician near you that has the knowledge and expertise of replacing drums on a Brother HL printer.

When the new toner cartridge is installed, the Brother HL printer typically automatically resets the message and the counter.
