Dryers are not complicated machines but they do depend on a lot of components working together in order for the dryer to work properly. If your Electrolux dryer is not working as well as it once did or you are getting error codes, this article will help you troubleshoot the issue.

Before resetting the dryer, though, here are some things to investigate that could be causing your dryer to not work correctly, or to not work at all. The most important area to investigate is the power supply.

Power Supply

An Electrolux dryer requires sufficient power to adequately do its job. If there is not enough power, the dryer will most likely not start or it will stop during the dry cycle.

Make sure the outlet the dryer is connected to is receiving power. You can test the outlet by plugging something else into it. If the appliance does not turn on, the outlet needs to be inspected immediately by a qualified electrician.

Another place to inspect for any power supply issues is the circuit breaker. Are there any blown fuses or tripped breakers? A fuse that is blown will need to be replaced.

It would also be wise to further inspect why the fuse was blown, to begin with. The fuse could have blown because of an electrical issue with the power source or the dryer was overheating. In either case, each possibility is a serious fire hazard and should be immediately investigated.

Once the main reason why the dryer was not receiving enough power has been resolved, resetting the dryer will clear out any error codes or stuck commands.

Incorrect Cycle

We all lead busy lives. We are hurrying to get things done and we think we pushed the correct cycle button when, in reality, we did not.

If your Electrolux dryer is not starting right away, make sure the correct cycle has been selected. It is possible the Delay Start function was selected. If this is the case, simply turn the dryer off and then back on again to clear the command.

Another button that could have been accidentally selected is the Child Lock. When the Child Lock feature is engaged, all of the control panel functions are locked, including the Start button.

When the Child Lock feature is engaged, the control display window should display the letters ‘LOC’. You can disengage the Child Lock feature by pressing any two control panel buttons at the same time.

Dryer Door

A safety feature on all Electrolux Dryers is that the dryer will not start if the door is not securely shut and locked. The ‘Start/Pause’ button should be flashing if the door is not shut.

There are a couple of reasons why the dryer may not be shut securely. One reason is the door latch. If the latch is bent or broken or loose, the sensor in the door will not detect that the door is indeed shut.

Make sure there is nothing blocking the latch or the door itself from being completely closed. Even something as thin as a dryer sheet in the door will prevent the dyer from starting.

Is There A Reset Button On An Electrolux Dryer?

You have tried all the suggestions for troubleshooting issues with your Electrolux dryer but it is still not working correctly. Is there a reset button on an Electrolux Dryer?

There is not a reset button on an Electrolux dryer. However, an Electrolux dryer can be reset by pressing both the ‘Temperature’ and ‘Dryness’ buttons for 6 seconds. The dryer can also be reset by unplugging it from its power source for at least 30 seconds.

We get used to our electronics and appliances having a reset button but Electrolux dryers do not have a stand-alone reset button.

How To Reset E64 Code On Electrolux Dryer

Your Electrolux Dryer is not starting and the display window says E64. How do you reset the E64 code on an Electrolux dryer?

You can reset E64 code on Electrolux dryer by unplugging the dryer from the outlet for at least 30 seconds. This will refresh the control board and will clear out any error codes. If the error code is a true error code, the code will return when a dry cycle is started.

It is possible to get this error code in error. The easiest way to know for sure if the error code is indeed a true problem is by resetting the dryer.

Unplug the dryer from its power source for at least 5 minutes. Plug the dryer back in and try to start any dry cycle. If the error code returns, the issue needs to be inspected further.

Error code E64 means there is an issue with the heating element. Either the heating element itself is bad or the wiring connected to the heating element is defective. The only way to know for sure what the true problem is is to remove the heating element.

The heating element needs to be completely removed in order to be inspected. The side you are looking at, while still connected to the dryer, could look fine but the other end of the heating element is collapsed.

The main reason why a heating element goes out is insufficient airflow. It is crucial to keep the vent and vent hose clear so that the hot air can be removed from the dryer.

The vent and vent hose can become blocked from either filling the dryer with too many clothes or not keeping the lint trap and vent hose clear of lent and other debris.

The lint trap should be cleaned after each load. It is also good maintenance to regularly wash the lint trap in warm soapy water. Use a brush to thoroughly remove all the lint.

Any lint left remaining in the trap will harden when it gets wet and is not removed. This will further add to the dryer overheating.

The vent hose itself can be cleared out with the proper attachment on a vacuum or shop vac.

How To Reset E63 Code On Electrolux Dryer

Are you trying to start your Electrolux dryer but you keep getting an E63 code? How can you reset the E63 code on an Electrolux dryer?

You can reset E63 code on Electrolux dryer by unplugging the dryer from its power source. Let it rest without power for at least 30 seconds to refresh the control board. Plug the dryer back in and start a dry cycle.

The E63 error code means there is an issue with the dryers’ ability to heat properly. The thermostat could be faulty; the heater itself is defective; the wiring to the heating element is faulty, or the electronic board is faulty.

Because this error code involves the heating element and wiring, it should not be taken lightly. If doing a soft reset of the dyer clears out the code, the issue is resolved.

However, if the error code continues to come back, a qualified electrician needs to diagnose the issue further. A faulty heating element and/or wiring is a serious fire hazard.
