To reset an Insignia TV, start by pressing the ‘Menu’ button on the remote. Navigate to ‘Settings’, then ‘System’, and select ‘Advanced System Settings’. Here, find and select ‘Factory Reset’, and then enter the code shown on the screen to confirm. This process will restore the TV to its original settings.

In more detail, when you access the ‘Factory Reset’ option in the ‘Advanced System Settings’, the TV will display a warning message about erasing all personalized settings and returning the TV to its original factory settings. Once you enter the code displayed on your screen, the reset process will begin. It’s important to note that this action is irreversible. All your customized settings, including Wi-Fi passwords, app logins, and personalized preferences, will be lost. Ensure the TV remains plugged in and powered during the reset process. After the reset is complete, you will need to go through the initial setup process again, just like when the TV was first installed.

Below are two options to help you reset your remote. One option is a simple reset, and the other is a factory reset. The factory reset will return the remote to its original factory settings, essentially wiping it clean and creating a fresh line of communication between it and your Insignia TV.

If you are wanting to establish a connection between the Insignia TV and a new remote, a factory reset is recommended. The factory reset will ensure any old codes from the previous remote are removed so the new remote can establish new connections.

Hard Reset

To perform a hard reset of your Insignia remote, simply remove the batteries from the back of the remote and unplug the TV from its power source for 60 seconds. It’s important to be patient and wait the full 60 seconds.

After 60 seconds, plug the TV back into its power source and replace the batteries in the remote. If you continue to experience issues with your remote, the next step will walk you through performing a factory reset of the remote.

Factory Reset

A factory reset of the Insignia remote will help clear out any remaining glitches and will also remove any interference from other devices.

Step 1: On the remote, press and hold the ‘Home’ button.

Step 2: While holding the ‘Home’ button, simultaneously press the ‘Menu’ button 3 times.

Step 3: Release the Home button.

Step 4: Press the ‘Menu’ button 9 times.

Step 5: Remove the batteries from the remote and unplug the TV from its power source.

Step 6: After 60 seconds, replace batteries and plug the Insignia TV back into its power source.

Step 7: When the Home screen appears on the TV, press and hold the ‘Home’ button on the remote for at least 30 seconds.

Step 8: The reset process is not complete and your remote has been restored to its original factory settings.

If the above-outlined steps do not resolve the issues you are having with your Insignia TV remote, you will need to contact Insignia Customer Service or your local Best Buy technical support. There could be an issue with the hardware inside the remote that requires further investigation.
