Vizio TV Apps Not Working (Opening/Connecting/Supported)

One of the greatest features of owning a Vizio TV is not only being able to have an incredibly clear picture and sound, but being able to use the technology within it, including a plethora of various applications. What do you do when your Vizio TV apps are suddenly no longer working?

One reason why Vizio apps may not be working is due to network connectivity issues. To fix this, verify your TV’s network connection and download speed by pressing the menu button on your VIZIO remote, and choosing ‘Network’. Then choose the option labeled ‘Network Test’ or ‘Test Connection’.

Another reason why Vizio apps may not be working is due to an error code. Some issues with applications will generate an error code. You may be able to go to search for the error code on the applications website to find specific instructions on how to fix the application.

A third reason why Vizio apps may not be working is due to a need for a power cycle or factory reset. To power cycle your TV, unplug the power cord from the back of the TV or the outlet, whichever is more convenient for 5 seconds. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the TV. If this does not work, you can perform a factory reset on your television by going to Menu or > System > Reset & Admin > Soft Power Cycle.

This can be an incredibly frustrating issue but is one that can quickly be resolved.

If your Vizio TV apps are not opening or loading, try opening them from the Vizio SmartCast app on your smart device. If you are able to open the applications from this device, a power cycle of the TV or an update of firmware may fix the problem which can be found in previous sections.

The opening and loading may not be a problem you are experiencing with your Vizio applications, but you may be one who is having trouble with them connecting. With any Smart Vizio TV, there must be a network connection in order for basic application functions to work. If you are having problems with apps not connecting, one of the most common and easy-to-fix solutions is to check for connection problems and then, reconnect.

If your Vizio TV apps are not connecting, check to make sure your TV is connected to a network and has proper download speed. To do this, press the ‘Menu’ button on your remote and select ‘Network’ > ‘Network Test’ and connect to the internet if it displays as disconnected and join back with a network.

If you perform this sequence and notice that the apps you downloaded are no longer displayed, what could be the problem? If your Vizio TV won’t display apps, a power cycle may bring them back up, but you may need to reinstall them. To do this, press the ‘VIA’ key on the remote, select ‘Connected TV Store’ > ‘All Apps’ > then press ‘OK’ on each app you would like to reinstall and allow the app time to download again.

Once you are able to find the application that you either want to reinstall or install for the first time, you should be able to easily go through the promptings and have it downloaded within a matter of minutes. However, if you go to install a particular application but notice that your Vizio TV will not download the app, is there any way to get the process working again so that the app can be downloaded completely?

If your Vizio TV is not downloading apps, it may be that your network needs to be rebooted. Power cycle your router by unplugging the power cord directly from the outlet. Leave it unplugged for ten seconds before plugging it back in and allow it to fully restart before attempting another download.

With any Vizio TV, one of the most important processes is being able to install and implement new firmware updates. By doing this, your TV is able to get rid of any harmful bugs that may exist and work at a better operating level. When it comes to applications, this same understanding applies, which can leave users worried and frustrated when applications will not update.

If your Vizio TV apps are not updating and you have completed a firmware update, you will need to remove and reinstall specific apps. To do this, press the ‘Home’ button on your remote > select the app > ‘Delete App’ > ‘OK’ then navigate back to the app store to find the application and reinstall.
