Asus Monitor Not Working

There are numerous issues that may be involved if in Asus monitor is not working. Some of those issues are easy to fix.

Some common reasons why an Asus monitor is not working are a problem with the video card or a problem with the power supply. Make sure that you are using a quality power cable and plug it directly into the wall receptacle rather than the power strip.

If you have a problem with your video card, you can sometimes fix it by refreshing the video driver.

Hold down the Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B for a few seconds and then release.

If refreshing the video driver doesn’t work, it may be necessary to get a new graphics card. If you are on a laptop, you can get an external graphics card that plugs into one of the ports on the side of the laptop.

Asus Monitor Not Working

If you plug the monitor directly into a receptacle and it is still not responding, that doesn’t mean that it is a problem with the monitor. At times, could be a problem with the receptacle.

While receptacles tend to last for a very long time but they can go bad on occasion. One side of the receptacle may also be working and the other side may not be working.

At times, half of the receptacle is on a wall switch so that it can be turned on and off. You may not have even realized it, but turning off the switch could turn off that part of the receptacle and stop the monitor from working.

If the breaker has tripped, it will also stop the power from coming to the receptacle. This will also stop anything else that is plugged in on the circuit from working.

If multiple items are not working at your computer, check the breaker box for a tripped breaker. It will be out of line with the other breakers and will typically have a red spot on one side.

Turn the breaker off and back on again to reset it.

Check Your Programs – If the Asus monitor stopped working while you were running a particular program, it may be an issue with that program. Try a full shutdown of the computer and after restarting, see if the monitor is working again.

Try Draining Residual Power – A full restart of the computer can sometimes involve draining the residual power from the components. Take the following steps to fully shut down the computer:

1. Remove the battery if working on a laptop

2. Shut down the computer

3. Remove all cables, including the power cable

4. Hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual power

5. Plug in the monitor

6. Plug in the power cable

7. Restart the computer.

Try a Different Monitor – Have you tried plugging a different monitor into the computer? Doing so will often determine if it is a problem with the Asus monitor or if it is a problem elsewhere.

Update Drivers – Try updating any Windows drivers as well as updating bios. Doing so will often help the computer to run smoothly and get rid of any bugs that may be affecting the monitor.

Asus Monitor Not Detected/Recognized

Is your computer having a difficult time detecting your Asus monitor? The solution may be easier than you thought.

In order for a monitor to be detected, it must be turned on. Sometimes, the power button gets shut off and we don’t really think about it, because the monitor stays on at all times and simply goes into hibernation when the computer shuts down. It may sound simple, but try pushing the power button and see if it detects your monitor.

You might also be having a problem getting the signal from the computer to the monitor. This can be due to issues with a damaged HDMI or VGA cable or outdated cables.

Inspect the cable carefully, removing it from the monitor and reversing the plugs between the computer and the monitor. If you see any damage, replace the cable.

Sometimes, you need to use an updated cable because the technology has changed. If you haven’t changed out your HDMI or other cables recently, now is the time to do it.

You might find it beneficial to start the computer in safe mode. When starting the computer, hit F8 when the window screen shows up. Starting in safe mode limits the drivers and programs that are running.

If you are having problems with your graphics card, the monitor might not be detected. An easy way to check this is by plugging in another monitor and see if it is detected. If not, buy an external graphics card.

Asus Monitor Not Turning On

Are you having trouble getting your Asus monitor to turn on? Try this easy solution:

If your ASUS monitor is not turning on, the issue may be a power supply problem. Ensure the monitor’s power cord is firmly plugged into a working electrical outlet and the monitor. Check for any signs of damage to the cord and replace it if necessary. Press the monitor’s power button and look for power indicator lights. If there are no lights, the power supply or outlet may be at fault; try a different outlet to confirm.

It is not uncommon for a receptacle to go bad, although it doesn’t happen frequently. That is why it is always a good idea to check the monitor by using a different receptacle.

If you notice any damage to the HDMI or DVI cable used to connect the Asus monitor, it should be replaced. Old and damaged cables can cause issues.

Asus Monitor Not Full Screen

I’m sure you want to get the full benefit of your Asus monitor. If you are not seeing things in full screen, try this simple fix.

The F11 key is what makes programs go full screen. At times, simply pressing the F11 key while we have the program showing on the monitor will expand it and get it where you want it to be. Otherwise, you may need to check the on-board options menu and adjust the screen resolution.

There are also some programs that are not designed to run in full screen. That is not typically the case but I know I still use some older programs that only show in a smaller window.

Finally, make sure the cable you are using to plug the monitor into the computer is new. Older cables may use older technology and might not have the capacity for newer Asus monitors.
