An Asus monitor works great out of the box. But, a range of different settings can be changed on it. It can also need to be reset back to the default settings. In this article, I will cover how to adjust the settings on your Asus monitor and how to do a soft and hard/factory reset on it.
In general, press either the joystick button on the back on your monitor, or the button to the left of the power button. Which button you press depends on the Asus monitor you have. This opens the menu. Navigate to the ‘wrench’ icon, then select ‘all reset’.
On some models you need to select ‘more’ first to access the ‘all reset’ option. Below, I will cover how to adjust all of the settings, as well as, how to return the settings back to default on an Asus monitor in more detail. Such as how to open the menu and select the different options.
How to Reset Asus Monitor
There are two different types of reset you can do on an Asus monitor. You can either do a soft reset, or a hard/factory reset. Here’s how to reset all the settings back to default.
In general, first you need to enter the menu. How to enter the menu depends on what model you have. Either you press the button to the left of the power button, or press the joystick button at the back right of your Asus monitor. Then select the wrench icon, and select ‘reset’.
A soft reset doesn’t revert any of the settings back to the default. It resets the internal computer on your Asus monitor, which can solve various types of issues.
A soft reset is done by turning your Asus monitor off using the power button on the front. And then unplugging it at the wall outlet. Give it about 30 seconds then plug it back into the wall outlet, and turn it back on.
How to Hard Reset Asus Monitor
When tinkering with all the settings on an Asus monitor you can change so many things that you just want to revert it back to the default. This is achieved by doing a hard reset, also called a factory reset. To do that, here’s what you should do.
In general, open the menu by pressing the joystick button at the back right of your monitor. If you don’t have a joystick button press the button to the left of the power button. Use the arrow keys on screen, or use the joystick button and select the ‘wrench’ icon, then select ‘all reset’.
On the menu for some Asus monitors there’s an option to set each of the individual settings back to the default. If you don’t want to revert ALL of the settings back to default this can be a better option.
For example, if you adjust the ‘gamma’ next to the up and down options there is an option to reset. This can be a better option if you changed a few color, contrast options. Rather than resetting all the settings.
How to Reset Asus Monitor to Default/Factory Settings

If there isn’t one then use the buttons on the bottom of the monitor next to the power button. The way the joystick works if you press it in to select something, and access the menu. And you move it up, down, left, and right to navigate.
Whereas, when using the buttons on the underside of the monitor the screen will display what button does what. For example, one button will have a ‘v’ above it to indicate it’s the down button. And there will be a tick icon above another one that indicates it’s the button to select something.

There is no information in any of the Asus monitor user manuals about how to disable the auto adjust on the monitor itself. If you have a dedicated graphics card, it has software. In the software there are various settings.
Some brands of graphics cards have an auto adjust setting that is turned on. For example, if you have an Nvidia graphics card, open the Nvidia software that is installed with it. Have a look in the settings to see if there’s an auto adjust brightness setting.

For example, if it’s an Nvidia graphics card type in ‘nvidia’ in the start menu. If the software is installed the software will show up. You can then click on it, and look through the settings to see if it has an auto adjust feature that can be toggled on and off.
There are two ways to control the settings on an Asus monitor. Either, it will have a joystick at the back on the right hand side that you press. Or you press the to the left of the power button. The menu is user friendly and it’s easy to find how to reset or adjust any settings you need.
