Installing a Blink camera is a great way to keep you and your spaces safe and connected through this small, battery-powered device that can be accessed through one convenient application. Once you have everything set up between the camera and your smart device, you should be able to connect to the video or live view provided by the camera. However, if your Blink camera won’t connect, continue reading below to see how to resolve such an issue.

Blink Camera Won’t Connect

For those looking to find an affordable way to keep an eye on their home or business without having to invest in a pricey security system, the Blink camera offers an extremely accessible interface through the operation of the Blink app while also giving users the ability to view recorded clips when motion is detected as well as see location in real time through Live View. If you have a Blink camera and it will not connect, what can be done?

If your Blink camera won’t connect, confirm your connected device has WiFi enabled, reset the router, disconnect the camera from Alexa then reconnect it, move the camera closer to the Sync Module, and replace any old batteries with new AA lithium-ion batteries.

As briefly noted previously, the Blink camera is controlled through the Blink application where users are able to see the various cameras they have connected, can modify the filtered settings, and can see different recorded clips and Live View options, however, all of this can only be done while connected to a working network. If you have a Blink camera and it won’t connect to the internet or a network, how can this be resolved?

If your Blink camera won’t connect to the internet or a network, be sure the device you have the app installed on has the Wifi turned on and is not in airplane mode. Once confirmed, try resetting the network by disconnecting the router for 60 seconds then plug it back in.

Once the router has been unplugged for 60 seconds, plug it back in and allow it to completely reboot. When the reboot process has completed, check to confirm that your device is connected to the same network and once connected, see if you are able to see the video feed from the Blink camera. If you are still not able to connect to the internet, check to make sure your device has been updated with the most recent software.

Blink Camera Won’t Connect to Alexa

Blink cameras are actually an Alexa skill that offers owners the ability to connect to a slew of different devices that support this feature. What this means for those using a Blink camera is that they have the ability to access their Blink camera without ever having to pick up a device, but can simply operate and access various features by using only their voice. If you have a Blink camera and want to connect it to Alexa but it will not, read below to see how this can be fixed.

If your Blink camera won’t connect to Alexa, be sure you are setting up the camera within Alexa. To do this, go to ‘Skills & Games’ > ‘Blink SmartHome’ > ‘Skill’ > ‘Enable to Use.’ You will then be asked to enter your credentials that are tied to your Blink account to link each.

If you follow this process and your Blink camera still will not connect to Alexa, try disconnecting the camera and then reconnecting it to Alexa. To do this, within the Alexa app tap the ‘Curtain Menu’ > ‘Skill & Games’ > ‘Your Skills’ > ‘Blink SmartHome’ > and disable. You will then select ‘Devices’ > ‘Cameras’ > trash each camera available > then follow the previous steps listed to connect the Blink camera back to Alexa successfully.

Blink Camera Won’t Connect to Blink Cloud/Server

If you are someone who wants to keep the clips saved that your Blink camera has recorded, but don’t have enough storage on your device to do so without taking up too much space, there is an option to save this material within the Blink Cloud. You can subscribe to the Cloud and then retrieve saved videos without ever having to worry about losing data, but what do you do if your Blink Camera won’t connect to the Blink Cloud or Server?

If your Blink Camera won’t connect to the Blink Cloud or server, it could be that you are not close enough to the Sync Module. When trying to connect to the Blink Cloud, be sure your camera is within a reasonable distance to the Sync Module, otherwise the camera will not be able to connect.

If you see that the signal bars on your camera have at least three bars when trying to connect to the Sync Module and you are still not able to connect to the Blink Cloud, try resetting the cameras. To do this, remove the batteries from the camera for 10 seconds, reinsert them, then allow the camera to turn back on. Once rebooted, try once again to see if you can connect the camera to the Blink Cloud.

Blink Camera Won’t Connect to Live View

Live View is a feature that is offered by Blink cameras to see the area of surveillance in real-time. This means that you can open the Blink app, click on a particular camera, and see exactly what is going on within the area without having to worry about watching recorded clips. If you have a Blink camera and are looking to connect to Live View but it will not make the connection, what can be done to restore this function?

If your Blink camera won’t connect to Live View, the issue is most likely caused by a poor network connection. To see if your network is the issue, reset the router that your device is connected to by unplugging it for 60 seconds, plugging it back in, then allowing it to completely restore.

If you reset the router and your Blink camera will still not connect to Live View, it could be that the batteries need to be replaced. To replace the batteries in a Blink camera, remove the mount on the back of the device, click and push on the upward arrow, and remove the old batteries. Replace those batteries with AA lithium-ion batteries, put the cover back on, mount the camera, and see if you are able to connect to Live View.

Blink Camera Won’t Connect to Floodlight

Outside of just the camera itself, Amazon has produced a whole line of Blink cameras that are multipurpose, with one being the Blink Floodlight. This device works the same as the Blink camera, but when motion is sensed, the lights are triggered and illumination immediately ensues. If you have a Blink camera that will not connect to the floodlight, take a look below to see what the most likely cause of the problem is.

If your Blink camera won’t connect to the floodlight, be sure that you have pulled the pull tabs from the back of the device. If these tabs are not pulled, the battery will not be able to make contact with the light in order to power this feature, resulting in a light that seemingly does not work.

If you know that the pull tabs have been removed and the floodlight is still not working on your Blink camera, it could be that the back cover has not been properly installed. If the back cover of the camera is not reattached properly, it will not cause certain items to make contact which cause the lights to shine when motion is detected. To know if the back cover has been reattached properly, you will see LED lights blink one time on the floodlight.

Blink Camera Won’t Connect to App

The beauty of using a Blink camera is that users are able to see the camera working wherever their smart devices take them through the convenience of the Blink app. Not only can you see what your cameras are capturing, but you can control the cameras from within the app no matter where you are. If you have the Blink app downloaded and the camera will not connect, what might be the cause of the problem?

If the Blink camera won’t connect to the app, it is likely that the network connection is the issue. To resolve this problem, reset the router by unplugging it from power for 60 seconds, plugging it back in, giving it time to completely reboot, then trying to connect the camera once more.

If you complete this process and you are still not able to connect the Blink camera to the app, be sure you have Wifi enabled on your device. Although you can access Blink cameras when your devices are running on data, when performing the initial setup process, you need to be connected to a working network. If your device is not connected to Wifi or is on Airplane mode, you will not be able to connect to the camera.

Blink Camera Won’t Connect to Phone

Holding a phone

Being able to see the image your Blink camera is capturing wherever you go typically means that most users are going to be operating their cameras straight from their smartphones. This makes this camera one that is easy to use and easy to manage through the user-friendly app and accessibility through the app as well. If you have a Blink camera and it won’t connect to your phone, what might be the cause of this hang up?

If your Blink camera won’t connect to your phone, turn off the Wifi setting and turn it back on. If this does not work, turn off the phone and allow it to completely restart. Once restarted, be sure the device is connected to a working network, then try connecting to the Blink camera once more.

If you go through the above steps and your phone still will not connect to the Blink camera, it could be that the Wifi needs to be reset, which can be done by resetting the router. Once the router has rebooted, you can try connecting your phone to the camera again. If this still does not work, be sure that your device has been updated with the most recent software, as outdated software may not support the Blink software.

If your Blink camera won’t connect, be sure your device is connected to a working network, move the camera close to the Sync Module, confirm that the pull tabs have been removed from a Blink Floodlight, and be sure to replace old batteries with AA lithium-ion batteries.
