How To Fix Samsung Tv Blurry Screen

There may be times when our Samsung TV will give us an indication as to why it is experiencing a problem with a blurry screen. Since there are so many different ways for us to enjoy what the system has to offer, trying different options may help.

For example, if we have a blurry screen when we are streaming Netflix or another streaming service but not when we are watching a DVD, then it really tells us something about why we are having the problem.

If that is the case, we can eliminate a problem with the TV itself and start looking at issues with our Internet or perhaps even with the streaming service (yes, that does happen). If that is the case, we provide you with details on how to restart your internet in this article.

Then again, there may be times when it is just a matter of waiting until things clear up again. This could be a problem if we are having internet issues or if the service we are using is not quite sending a great signal.

In the end, there are many different things that could go wrong and cause your Samsung TV to go blurry. It is just a matter of figuring out why it is happening for you and then looking for the easiest and most effective solution to the problem.

Here are 5 different ways to get your Samsung TV back up and running again. There are many ways to clear up your screen and one is sure to work for you.

1. Perform a Soft Reset on Your Samsung TV

One of the easiest ways to fix almost any problem on a Samsung TV is to perform a soft reset. This will often change any issue and correct the small errors that can make your screen blurry.

One method of doing a soft restart on a Samsung Smart TV is to push and hold the power button on the remote control.

Begin with the Samsung TV powered on and press and hold the power button on the remote control. The TV will turn off immediately.

Continue to hold down the power button until the TV eventually turns back on again. This should clear many of the errors and will often fix a blurry screen.

If that doesn’t work, try the following:

1. Disconnect – You can disconnect the plug from the receptacle or you can disconnect the power by turning off the circuit breaker that is powering the receptacle.

2. Wait – Leave the Samsung TV disconnected for at least 60 seconds. This is to allow time for the Samsung TV to completely dissipate any residual power that may be left within it.

3. Press – Press and hold the power button on the remote control for 30 seconds. You can also do the same by pressing the power button on the side of your Samsung TV. Doing so further eliminates any residual energy.

4. Power On – As a final step, reconnect the power to the TV again and allow it to fully restart. After it completes the startup sequence, the reset is complete.

2. Change the Picture Settings

There are a number of settings on a Samsung smart TV that could cause the screen to get blurry. These often are settings that change the aspect ratio, such as zoom or even a picture setting.

The problem is, that it’s often difficult to determine what has caused this issue to occur. Sometimes, you just need to start from scratch. You can also try the following:

1. Zoom – Scroll through the settings option and look for zoom. Make sure that the zoom option has not been selected.

2. Picture Size – Check the settings for the aspect ratio and make sure that the picture has not been cropped or extended.

Anything that changes the picture size can make the picture blurry on your Samsung TV.

3. Check and Replace the HDMI Cables

Like any type of technology, HDMI has been updated over the years. If you are not using the most current HDMI technology, you could have a problem with a blurry picture on your Samsung TV.

The first thing to do is to inspect the HDMI cables carefully. Look for any damage to the cables, such as nicks, slices, or cuts. If you see any issues, replace the cables.

If the cables are dirty and dusty, this can also be a problem. Disconnect the cables and wipe them down before plugging them back in again.

If the cables are older, it may be best just to replace them.

Finally, make sure that all of the cables are firmly plugged into their respective ports. If any of them are loose, it could cut down on the signal and may make the picture blurry.

If all else fails, you may need to connect using a different type of cable or perhaps use a different port. If the problem is associated with the HDMI cables, it will be easy to tell.

4. Update the TV

Like any type of technology, a smart TV can also experience bugs from time to time. These generally occur because of a software update or a lack thereof.

Begin by scrolling through the Samsung Smart TV options and looking for the firmware update. This is something that typically takes place automatically but at times, you can also update it when a new update comes out and it has not yet completed.

Minor issues can occur when there is a problem with the firmware on your smart TV. By simply updating the firmware and then restarting the TV, you can enjoy the updates and a much clearer picture.

5. Fix the Internet Connection

If you are doing any streaming of live TV or if you are using a streaming service, a slow or interrupted Internet connection can cause the picture to be blurry.

The easiest way to fix this issue is to restart your Internet. Unplug the modem and router and disconnect the cable from your Internet service provider to the modem.

Leave the modem and router unplugged for 60 seconds. You can then reconnect the Internet cable and power cables.

It will take a few minutes for the Internet to restart but when it does, your picture should be much better.

If that doesn’t work, try moving the router closer to the TV to increase the signal. You might also need to plug the modem directly into the TV using an ethernet cable.

Internet connections can really cause problems in more ways than one. At times, a poor Internet connection can even keep the firmware from updating on your Samsung TV.

It’s difficult to check the Internet connection by using a secondary device but Samsung will tell you how strong the connection is in the settings menu. You can check this for yourself, just to see if you have enough signal or not.

If you are using multiple devices and streaming at the same time, which is very common in today’s connected world, this can also be an issue. You may need to cut down on how many devices are streaming at any given time or perhaps, you can simply reduce the settings so that some of the devices are not using as much bandwidth.

Have you considered updating your Internet service? Sometimes, updating to a much faster speed is not an expensive option. You might be surprised with how much of a difference it makes when you bump up to the next level.

Finally, there are certain times of the day that may cause issues with your Internet service. If the screen tends to be blurry during times of high usage in your area, it is likely because there are more people using the Internet at that time.

Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done about that issue other than increasing the speed of your Internet service. Even then, you are still going to experience a slowdown, although it may not be slow enough to make your screen blurry.

The most common reason why you have a blurry screen on your Samsung TV is that the HDMI cables need to be replaced. Choose new cables with the latest HDMI technology and ensure they are plugged fully into the port on the TV and the connected device. Otherwise, you can perform a soft reset by pressing and holding the power button on the remote control until the TV turns off and restarts.
