Samsung Phone Not Receiving Calls/Dropping Calls

At the very core of a Samsung phone’s function is its ability to receive and maintain phone calls so over-the-phone communication can remain reliable. However, if you have a Samsung phone and it is not receiving calls or is dropping calls, what can you do to fix the issue?

If your Samsung phone is not receiving calls or is dropping calls, check that you are in an area that has a strong enough cell signal, check that no numbers are listed on the ‘Auto Reject List,’ and allow the phone to organically shut down when the device is in sleep mode.

There are few things more frustrating than being in the middle of a call and the call suddenly dropping out for no explainable reason. Even more problematic than this though is when individuals are calling your number, but they are not able to get ahold of you due to your phone not receiving those calls as it should. If either of these are problems you are experiencing, continue reading to see what can be done to get your calls back into working order.

Samsung Phone Not Receiving Calls/Dropping Calls

If you own a Samsung phone, at the very least, you expect to be able to receive calls and maintain those calls when you are in the middle of a conversation. If you are not able to rely on your phone when it comes to receiving and maintaining calls, then you become the one with the communication problem when it comes to keeping the line open and working. If you are having either of these issues, what might be the cause and what can you do to fix it?

If your Samsung phone isn’t receiving calls or is dropping calls, be sure that you are in a location that receives a strong enough signal to be able to receive and maintain phone calls. If you are in a location that does not, calls are easily missed and current calls can be dropped unexpectedly.

When it comes to maintaining phone calls and receiving those that are coming into your Samsung phone, you have to be in a location that allows your phone to make a strong enough connection to the network. If you are on a long interstate that is densely crowded by woods on either side of it when traveling or are in a rural location, the signal in these areas may be spotty, which can be the cause of calls not coming in or dropping out of the blue.

You may not be in a rural area and you might not even be traveling, so this reasoning is not applicable to you and your issues with calls on your Samsung phone. Even more than this though, you might only be having problems with your device not receiving calls, rather than it dropping calls while you are in the middle of them. If your Samsung phone is not receiving calls, take a look to see what you can do to restore this function on your device.

If your Samsung phone isn’t receiving calls, it could be that you have certain numbers blocked from your incoming call list. To see which numbers are blocked, go to the menu and select ‘Call Settings’ > ‘Call Rejection’ > ‘Auto Reject List’ and see which numbers are listed.

When you bring this list up, you should be able to see every number that has been blocked on your particular Samsung phone. If you do not want some or all of these numbers blocked, simply click on each individual number and the trash can icon next to it to remove it from the blocked call list. Once the number has been removed, notify the individual and see if you are able to receive their phone call after this change has been made.

Samsung Not Receiving Calls When Phone Sleep

The purpose of sleep mode within a Samsung phone is to be able to keep your phone quiet, yet still receive notifications without being interrupted. This works better than having to turn your phone off completely, as you can activate the screen on your device to see any notifications that have come in while the phone was in sleep mode. However, if your phone is not receiving calls while the phone is in sleep mode, what might be the cause of this issue?

If your Samsung phone isn’t receiving calls when the device is in sleep mode, be sure that you are allowing the phone to organically fall asleep rather than closing the lock screen every time you check your home screen.

If you are allowing your phone to go to sleep on its own after you have checked the home screen, yet are still having problems with the device not receiving any calls, it could be that your phone needs to be updated with the latest software. To check for any software updates, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Software Update’ > and if there is one available, click on the option to download and install the update. Once complete, see if your issue has been resolved.

Samsung Not Receiving Calls From iPhone

There is a great debate that divides family, friends, coworkers, states, and countries: whether the Apple or Android operating system is the best. iPhones are run by Apple and Samsungs are run by Android and although very different, they both have their pros and cons. Either way, inevitably, Samsung phones are going to get calls from iPhones, and if you are not able to receive a call from an iPhone on your Samsung phone, that can be a major problem.

If your Samsung phone is not receiving calls from iPhones, be sure that you have not blocked any specific callers on your ‘Auto Reject List.’ If they are not blocked, this could be an issue that your carrier needs to resolve, as it is likely a problem with your cellular service, not the phone.

As previously noted, the most likely cause of your Samsung phone not receiving phone calls from iPhones lies with your carrier and not the phone itself. But if you are wanting to try one troubleshooting method before contacting your carrier, you can go forward with resetting your device. To do this, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Factory and Data Reset’ > click this option once more > ‘Reset’ > enter your security code, then the reset will begin.

Samsung Not Receiving Calls From One Person

You might not be having a problem with all incoming calls, but if you are a Samsung phone owner and you are not able to receive phone calls from one specific person, you are left missing the moments they try to contact you. It can be an incredibly frustrating issue to constantly miss the calls of someone trying to reach you, therefore, if this is your problem, read on to see what the most likely cause of the issue is and what you can do to quickly fix it.

If your Samsung phone isn’t receiving calls from one particular person, the most likely reason is that the number has been accidentally blocked on your ‘Auto Reject List.’ To see how to unblock numbers from this list, see the previous section titled “Samsung Phone Not Receiving Calls.”

There are also many different calling applications that individuals use to keep phone calls more private, make international calls, or remain within one app so all their calls and messages are easily managed. If you are using a separate calling application on your Samsung phone, be sure that there are no blocking or rejection features that may be turned on, as these features could be the reason for you not receiving calls from one specific person.

Samsung Black Screen Not Receiving Calls

There is a common issue that exists with Samsung phones which includes the screen of their device staying black when a call is coming in. This means that owners are able to hear or feel the incoming call, but in order to see who is calling, they have to open the screen of their device. Even more irritating than this though, is the problem of the screen staying black and not receiving any calls at all. If this is the problem you are experiencing, read below.

If your Samsung phone has a black screen and is not receiving phone calls, the most likely explanation for this is that the phone has died and needs to be recharged. If your phone is dead, there is no way for incoming calls to complete, which explains why calls are being missed.

When a Samsung phone’s battery is dramatically depleted and you go to charge the device, the phone will not automatically turn on, but will take a few minutes to gain enough charge to power back up. However, this process should not take longer than 10 minutes, therefore, if your Samsung phone screen is still black and not receiving calls, either change the outlet you are using or try using a different charger to see if these will work more efficiently.

If your Samsung phone is dropping calls, the most likely cause is you are in a location that does not have strong enough cell reception to be able to maintain the call. Try either moving to a different area or continue driving until you see that more signal has been gained, then call again.

Poor reception is the biggest reason calls are missed, but this can also happen if you are using Wifi on a network that is being overused. If you are making calls by using Wifi and you are on a network system that has incredibly jammed lines, this can cause you to lose your call. Therefore, either stop using Wifi and begin using data, or try joining another network that is not so busy so that there is more room for your call to be made and maintained.

Samsung Phone Dropping Calls When Emails Come Through

The beauty of having a Samsung smart phone is being able to have everything you need right in the palm of your hand: your calendar, messages, all voicemails, appointments, contacts, addresses, credit cards, favorite applications, documents, and your emails. Everything is right where you need it to be, but if you find your Samsung phone starts to drop calls when emails come through, how can you get this problem to stop?

If your Samsung phone is dropping calls when emails come through, open the phone dialer on your device and go into the Menu soft key. Once you are here, click on ‘Settings’ and select ‘Call Alert.’ Once selected, remove the checkmark from the box.

If you go through this process and you see that the box is already unchecked, then you are in need of another troubleshooting method. For the next method, try clearing the cache and data from the Phone App on your device. To do this, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Application Manager’ > ‘All’ > ‘Phone App’ > ‘Clear Data’ > ‘Force Stop.’ Once this is done, the cache and data on your phone should be cleared and you can then check to see if this resolves your issue.
