Sony TV YouTube Sound/Screen/Login Not Working

YouTube has come a very long way from its days of music videos and odds and ends content to a video sharing platform and social media powerhouse. Before smart TVs and other supported media players, this website was only available from the nearest smartphone, laptop, or smart pad. When Sony was able to offer this application straight from its screen, owners were brought into a new world of technology, but what do you do if it is not working?

If YouTube on your Sony TV has no sound, is not showing the screen, or will not allow you to log in, be sure that the clock on your TV is set to the right time zone. To do this, press the ‘Home’ button on your remote > ‘Settings’ > ‘Device Preferences > ‘Date & Time’ > ‘Set Time Zone.’

Once you have completed these steps, you will then select your current location and allow for the TV to adjust. When this has been completed, go back to the YouTube app and open it as you normally would. If the time zone was, in fact, incorrect, you should be able to open the application without any sound problems, screen issues, or login failures.

YouTube Not Connecting On Sony TV

Just as with many other applications on a Sony TV, YouTube is an app that, in order to run, must be connected to an internet source. Whether you are using an ethernet cable or are connected to WiFi, this will allow you to have complete and unrestricted access to the app itself. Therefore, if you have internet available, you may find it rather perplexing when YouTube will not connect.

If YouTube is not connecting on your Sony TV, first check the network status on your TV. To do this, press ‘Home’ on your remote > ‘Settings’ > ‘Network/ Network & Internet’ > ‘Network Status/Advanced Settings/View Network Status’ which will tell you whether or not you are connected.

If you notice that your TV is connected to the internet, it may be helpful to perform a power reset on the TV. To complete this, start by turning off the TV and unplugging the power cord directly from the power source for two minutes. Once the TV has been unplugged for a full two minutes, plug the power cord back into its source and turn the TV back on to proceed to check if YouTube is still experiencing connection problems.

Not every application has to have noise in order to function, nor is it necessarily wanted by the user, however, when it comes to YouTube, one of the most important functions is sound. This allows users to not only see the content they are streaming, but hear those videos that require more of a listening ear rather than a fixated view. If YouTUbe on your Sony TV is having problems with sound, audio, or volume, what can you do to resolve the issue?

If YouTube on your Sony TVs sound, audio, or volume is not working, first try a simple approach of restarting the app. To do this, press the ‘Home’ button on your remote > ‘Settings’ > ‘See All Apps’ > ‘YouTube’ > then pull down the menu from the app and select ‘Clear Data/Clear Cache.’

Once you have restarted YouTube, but notice that you are still having problems with the audio output, it may be that the app needs to be updated to the latest version from the Google Play store. If this does not work, sign out of the app and then back in once it has completely exited. If you cannot remember your password and login, it may be wise to try to log out and back in on another device, such as your computer, so you can test your username and password.

Of course, sound is of the utmost importance when you are using YouTube on your Sony TV, but if you are wanting to not only listen to what you have selected, but watch it as well, there is nothing more inconvenient than a black or blank screen appearing. A black or blank screen with no picture may show as soon as you open the app, or it may appear when you are in the middle of a video, but regardless, a quick fix is certainly in order.

If YouTube on your Sony TV displays a black or blank screen with no picture, try deleting the application and then reinstalling it. To delete YouTube, press the ‘Home’ button on your remote > ‘Apps’ > ‘Google Play Store’ > ‘My Apps’ > ‘YouTube’ > ‘Uninstall’> then select ‘OK’ to confirm.

Once you have successfully uninstalled the app, turn your TV off and back on again, then proceed to reinstall YouTube. To do this, press the ‘Home’ button on your remote > ‘Apps’ > ‘Google Play Store’ > find the ‘YouTube’ app and select it > then press ‘Install.’ You will then be required to log back into the application, but once your account has been confirmed, you should have no more issues with a black or black screen that has no picture.
