TCL TV Apps Won’t Work (Won’t Download/Open)

Of course, being able to watch satellite and cable television on your TV is a basic feature that many utilize. However, being able to use various applications is really what takes TVs from good to great. What do you do if your TCL TV apps won’t work

If your TCL TV apps are not working, it’s likely because of a software or network issue. The top cause of this issue is an outdated app or firmware. To fix this, check for any available updates for both the TV and the app. Additionally, try resetting your TV to its default settings or power cycling it by unplugging it from the power source for a few minutes.

If the issue persists, check your network connection and ensure that your TV is connected to the internet. You can also try resetting your router or modem to improve your internet speed. If the problem continues, contact TCL customer support for further assistance.

Another cause of TCL TV apps not working could be due to a cache issue or a corrupted app. To fix this, try clearing the cache and data of the app in question. You can do this by going to the app settings and selecting “clear cache” and “clear data”. If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Additionally, check your TV’s storage capacity and ensure there is enough space for the app to function properly. If the problem continues, contact TCL customer support or the app developer for further assistance.

TCL TV Not Opening Apps

With any smart TCL TV that was produced after 2014, TCL has placed Roku within it to use as a method to stream media content directly to your TV through the use of the internet. Through this media player, owners of TCL TVs are able to access a multitude of different applications that come from various online services. This is one of the greatest benefits of a TCL TV, but what do you do if the apps on your TV are not opening?

If your TCL TV is not opening apps, for more general problems, one of the first steps you can take is to restart your TV. To do this, press the ‘Home’ button on your Roku remote > select ‘Settings’ > ‘System’ > ‘Power’ > ‘System Restart’ > ‘Restart’ > then press the ‘OK’ button to confirm the reset. This should work to resolve any general issues that you are having with your applications opening.

If you are still having trouble opening any applications, your system may need to be updated with the latest firmware. To complete a firmware update, press the ‘Home’ button on your remote control > select ‘Settings’ > select ‘System’ > select ‘System Update’ > ‘Check Now’ > then your TV will check for an update and then automatically download and install the new update to your TV.

Beyond your applications simply not working, you may be experiencing an issue of not being able to download any new applications to your TCL TV. This can include applications like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and many others, but when you are unable to download the streaming service you need, you are left wanting. What causes this problem within your TCL TV and how do you fix it?

If your TCL TV won’t download apps, the first place to start is checking the status of your internet connection. To do this, press the ‘Home’ button on your remote > ‘Settings’ > ‘Network’ > ‘About’ > ‘Network Status’ > and then view your signal strength. This will either display that your signal strength is Excellent, Good, or Poor. If the signal strength is poor, this could cause apps to not download.

If you find that your internet speed is not the issue or that you have improved the speed of your internet and are still struggling to download apps, you turn on ‘System Speed Up’ which is located on the right corner of your Home Screen. The Home Screen may also be identified as the ‘Launcher.’ By turning this on, your TV should be better able to install applications by invoking a speed optimization technique.

You may not have a problem downloading different apps, but what do you do if your applications simply are not working? Whether they act as if they are going to open and then suddenly close out, show that they are not available, or constantly are in a state of updating, this can be just as big of an issue as not being able to get them to download. After all, an application that doesn’t work is just about as useless as one that doesn’t exist.

If your TCL TV apps are not working, make sure that your TV is updated with the latest firmware, as this can cause issues with applications functioning properly if your TV is behind. To complete a firmware update, reference back to the previous section “TCL TV Not Opening Apps” to get a step-by-step guide to getting your TV installed with the most recent software.

If there is not a software update available for your TV or the firmware update does not allow you access to your applications still, it could be an issue with your internet. To resolve this problem, you will need to reset the internet on your TV press the ‘Home’ button on your remote > ‘Settings’ > ‘System’ > ‘System Restart’ > ‘Advanced System Settings’ > ‘Network Connection Reset’ > ‘Reset Connection.’

Getting out of the more general problems that owners experience with their applications on the TCL TV, it is now time to discuss issues that people have with specific applications. Take a look below to find a solution for a specific app on your TCL TV.

1. TCL TV Netflix Not Working

Netflix is one of the older streaming services that most certainly has not lost its popularity with subscribers. From children, to adults, to all of those in between, there is practically any movie, series, or random throwback that will satisfy just about any subscriber. With one of the most used streaming services out there, it would not be shocking to know that those who try to open the application and find it is not working are met with mounds of frustration.

If your TCL TV Netflix app is not working, try following these steps in the exact order that they are listed. First, delete Netflix from your TV. Once the application has been deleted, restart your Roku device by clicking ‘Home’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘System’ > ‘System Restart.’ Once Roku boots back up, you will then reinstall Netflix and log back into the application using your own username and password.

2. TCL TV YouTube Not Working

YouTube is a fantastic platform for those who need something that offers a bit more than a streaming service. You might not even call it more, but Youtube certainly offers a different type of content which is one of the major reasons for its popularity. If you go to open this application in hopes of watching the latest music video from your favorite artists or the new “How-To” video for woodworking but can’t get the app to work, what do you do?

If your TCL TV YouTube app is not working, it could be a problem with your TV not having the most recent firmware update. 3. TCL TV Amazon Prime Not Working

Amazon Prime is an application that goes far beyond simply buying a new pair of pants and the next big kitchen utensil. Amazon Prime with your Roku is a place where you can not only access tons of free shows and movies, but you can also purchase just about anything out there to watch. 4. TCL TV Pandora Not Working

Pandora goes beyond watching TV and gives users the ability to encounter new experiences through their ears. Pandora is a streaming service that allows users to put their favorite music tracks on their TCL TV, making this a great option for those who want to avoid speakers, or who need a little more sound in the area in which their TV is located. Though, when the music stops and the application stops working, is there a way to fix the problem?

If your TCL TV Pandora app is not working try rebooting your modem and router, then restart the Roku player on your TCL TV (see: TCL TV Netflix Not Working). If this does not solve the issue, delete Pandora from ‘My Channels’ then try adding it once again from the Channel Store. The ‘Remove Channel’ option is found by pressing the * key on your remote while selecting Pandora from the home screen.

5. TCL TV Hulu Not Working

Hulu is an application that gives you the ability to watch TV, without having to actually watch TV. This streaming service allows users to get to their favorite shows and movies without having to endure the long commercials that are associated with satellite and cable television.
