AirPlay is a feature that those with Apple products, once they begin using, find a hard time being without. Not only does the actual function of this feature make life easier, but the setup itself is incredibly user friendly, efficient, and simplistic. Because of this, using AirPlay to connect multiple media devices is often the most seamless process compared to others, but if you find that this feature is not working on your Vizio TV, read below for the remedy.

If your Vizio TV AirPlay is not working, ensure that your iOS device is on iOS 12.4 or higher. Those capable of receiving iOS 12.4 or higher include the iPhone X, SE, 5S, 6/6 plus and later, iPad Pro, iPad Air and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad Mini 2 and later, and iPad touch.

A few other devices capable of iOS 12.4 or higher include the iPad Touch 6th generation and higher as well as macOS Mojave 10.14.5 or higher. If you do not have one of these devices or have older versions that are not capable of this software, it means that you will not be able to connect your device to your Vizio TV using AirPlay.

If you have confirmed that your device is on iOS 12.4 or higher and AirPlay is still not working for you, it is time to start troubleshooting. When you try to use AirPlay on your Vizio TV with an Apple device, you should be able to select the exact device that you are attempting to connect to, such as your Vizio TV. If you have AirPlay running on your Apple device but your Vizio TV is not showing as an option for connecting, read below to find the fix.

If your Vizio TV Airplay is not showing, confirm that your TV has the AirPlay 2 and HomeKit functionally enabled. To see if your TV is capable of receiving this update or has already received the update which will enable AirPlay, check the Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit Release Information here.

If you notice that your TV has not received the update but is on the list for being capable of the update, check to make sure that your firmware is up to date. To do this, press the ‘Menu’ button on your remote control and select ‘System’ > ‘Check for Updates.’ If an update is available, your TV will automatically begin the download process and your TV will be updated and restarted. If there is no update available, the system will notify you after the check.

Vizio TV Keeps Switching to Airplay

Although some Vizio TV owners experience problems with AirPlay working properly or showing up on-screen, others have encountered problems with the feature actually working more often than it should. If you have a Vizio TV and are in the middle of using a satellite or cable service, are using the internet on the TV, or are within another application directly from the TV itself, it can be a huge problem when your TV continually keeps switching to Airplay.

If your Vizio TV keeps switching to AirPlay, it may be helpful to turn off the AirPlay feature on your TV. To do this, press the ‘Home’ button on your remote control and scroll to ‘Extras’ > ‘Apple AirPlay’ > ‘Off.’ Once this has been turned off from your TV, you will have to turn it back on to use.

Once you have AirPlay turned off on your Vizio TV but find that you would like to use this feature again, just simply turn the feature back on. To do this, press the ‘Home’ button > ‘Extras’ > ‘Apple AirPlay’ > ‘On’ Then, from your Apple device, select the screen mirroring option and choose your Vizio TV. Once this has been chosen, you should almost immediately see your device screen mirrored on your Vizio TV.

AirPlay Codes is a new security feature that allows users to connect to AirPlay with a randomized four-digit code. This code is displayed on the TV, which allows users to input it into their Apple devices so they are able to connect. This feature is incredibly useful for guests to come in and connect their own devices to AirPlay without having to know a private code. When using this feature on a Vizio TV, what do you do if the AirPlay code isn’t showing?

If your Vizio Tv is not displaying an AirPlay code it may be that this feature has not been enabled. To enable AirPlay Onscreen Code, select ‘Settings’ > ‘AirPlay’ > then be sure that ‘AirPlay’ is ‘On’, turn the ‘Onscreen Code’ ‘On’, and turn the ‘Password’ ‘Off.

Once you have all of these features properly turned off and on, exit out of this menu and attempt to connect to AirPlay again. You should now be given a four-digit code to connect to AirPlay which should work for any device trying to connect. If you find that it is still not working once you have set all of the properties correctly, turn your TV off and then back on to try and connect again once more with the four-digit code.

Vizio TV Not Mirroring Screen

Phone and TV mirroring content

Using AirPlay may seem like a rather simplistic process, but technology can be difficult at times, leaving users who are trying to use this mirroring feature rather distraught when they find screen mirroring will not work. If you have a Vizio TV as well as an Apple device and are stuck with two products that will not perform screen mirroring, this can be incredibly frustrating. However, there is a fix to this problem which can be found below.

If your Vizio TV is not mirroring the screen from your Apple device, be sure that both devices are connected to the same network. To check the network on your Vizio TV, press ‘Menu’ > ‘Network’ > ‘Network Connection’ > ‘Wireless,’ which will then show which network you are connected to.

To confirm that your Apple device is also connected to the same network, simply go to ‘Settings’ > ‘WiFi’ and then check to see that both your Apple device and your Vizio TV are operating on the same network. If they are not, even if they both have an internet connection, screen mirroring will not work.
