Bosch Dishwasher Not Cleaning

When you come home to a new Bosh dishwasher, the most primary expectation is that the appliance is able to clean dishes without you having to physically intervene with handwashing. If your Bosch dishwasher is not cleaning as it should, what can you do to resolve the issue?

If your Bosch dishwasher isn’t cleaning, first, check to make sure the filter is not clogged and remove any debris build-up if present. Once completed, confirm that your water heater is adjusted to a high enough temperature, and consider soaking any items that have dried or caked-on particles.

Most households are capable of handwashing dishes to perfection, but when it comes to capability versus convenience, a dishwasher is a great way to bridge the gap between having to clean your dishes and letting an appliance do it just as well for you. If you have a Bosch dishwasher and it is not cleaning as it should, take a look below to find particular issues that may plague you as well as the solutions that will get your appliance back into working order.

Bosch Dishwasher Not Cleaning

When you add dirty dishes to your dishwasher, the one expectation is to be able to pull them out, once the cleaning cycle has completed, and be met with dishes that are sparkling clean. Even more so, when you invest in such an appliance, you expect it to be able to clean even better than if you were doing the job. Therefore, when your Bosch dishwasher is not cleaning as it should, what can you do to resolve such a problem?

If your Bosch dishwasher is not cleaning, one of the biggest causes can reside within the filter. Check the filter to see if there is debris build-up or major obstructions in the area. If you see either of these present, promptly remove them and run your dishwasher to see if it is more efficient.

The filter of your Bosch dishwasher is located at the bottom of the unit and can be accessed by removing the bottom rack of the appliance. Once you have the rack removed from your dishwasher, you can then access the filter, which is round, by unscrewing the top of the filter and pulling the filter from your appliance. Be sure to completely clean the filter of any debris and clean around the filter as well to ensure that any remaining residue is completely cleared.

If you feel like you aren’t quite prepared to tackle the task of removing and cleaning the filter without detailed instructions, consult the user manual that came with the appliance. Within this manual, you will be able to locate the filter with instructions that are guided by both pictures and words, which will allow owners who are keen on troubleshooting their Bosch dishwasher problems on their own, but need slightly more specific instructions to do so.

Bosch Dishwasher Not Cleaning Cups

When it comes to the wide variety of plate ware that is put into a Bosch dishwasher, you have anything from cutlery, to dinner plates, to mixing bowls, to breakfast bowls, and, of course, cups. Cups are an item that many households use daily and oftentimes, use multiple of within that daily timespan, making this an item that quickly fills up within their Bosch appliance. If you have cups in your dishwasher and they are not being cleaned well, what could be the cause?

If your Bosch dishwasher is not cleaning cups well, it could be that your water is not adjusted to a high enough heat. Be sure that you adjust your water temperature to have a high heat output, as this will dictate how effectively cups are cleaned due to the use of hot water during the process.

If you check and notice that the water heater has been turned to a high enough heat, or that the water heater is turned as high as it can go yet your cups are still not being cleaned, consider which cups are not being cleaned and what was in them prior to you placing them into the dishwasher. If you have cups that were filled with items that are hard to even hand-scrub away, your Bosch dishwasher will have the same hard time when it comes to thoroughly cleaning.

It is also important to consider how long cups were laying out before being placed into the dishwasher. If you are someone who tends to accidentally leave items lying around once used, any residue that is left within a cup can quickly harden and begin to stick to the sides and bottom of the cup over time. When this happens, the caked-on residue presents a major cleaning task for your dishwasher and will wash much better if soaked and pre-rinsed before loading.

The cups in your dishwasher may not be the problem for you though, as you might be experiencing an even more specific cleaning issue: the inability of your Bosch dishwasher to clean tea stains. Tea may seem like an unlikely issue when you consider its mild nature and ease of drinking, but when it comes to this substance sticking to surfaces, it can become difficult to remove. If your dishwasher isn’t cleaning tea stains, read below to see what can be done.

If your Bosch dishwasher is not cleaning tea stains, try adding a rinse aid along with your normal dishwashing soap or tablets. Rinse aids, such as JetDry, lower the surface tension in the water which allows for water to spread thinly and dry at a faster rate than if run without this aid.

If you are using a separate rinse aid along with your dishwashing soap or tablet (as in, you are not using a tablet with added rinse aid, but a completely separate addition to the wash cycle) but tea stains are still remaining on your dishes, try using the Shine and Dry function on your appliance. This is a very powerful cycle that is designed to target difficult stains and gunked-on messes, which will oftentimes work perfectly for tough items like tea stains.

When you use this cycle and are still seeing tea stains on your dishes, be sure you have your dishwasher set to receive water at a high enough temperature, and also try using a different cycle that is set to administer hotter water. Turn your water heater up to a high temperature, then look for various settings that indicate a high water temperature is being used. Once both have been set, try running your dishwasher once more to see if the tea stains are removed.

Bosch Dishwasher Doesn’t Clean Glasses

You may not be someone who is drinking tea on a regular basis, but for the majority of dishwasher owners, they are using different glasses to reach their daily water needs, have a soda with some late night pizza, or get their morning smoothie in. If you load your dishwasher with different glasses but notice that when you pull them from a finished cycle they are still not cleaned as well as they should be, what could be causing the problem and what can be done?

If your Bosch dishwasher doesn’t clean glasses, it could be your dishwashing soap or tablets that are the cause of the problem. If you are using a low-quality soap or tablet, they can easily leave residue on your cups which may appear as leftover food items, but it’s actually soap.

When you pull your glasses from your Bosch dishwasher, if you notice that there is a kind of milky and gritty residue on your glasses, this is actually dishwashing soap that has not completely dissipated. Find a high-quality soap to put into your dishwasher and then be sure that you are using either a setting with a high heat, or adjust your water heater to a higher temperature, to ensure that the soap can dissolve more thoroughly during the cycle.

Bosch Dishwasher Not Cleaning Top Rack

It may not be that you are experiencing problems with one particular dish item, but you might be having issues with a specific rack. For any Bosch dishwasher, you are going to have a bottom and a top rack: one for smaller items such as glasses and cups, and another for larger items such as plates, bowls, and tall pieces that need more room when being washed. However, if the top rack is not cleaning, what can be done to resolve such an inconvenient issue?

If the top rack of your Bosch dishwasher is not being cleaned, be sure to check the wash arm that is located either in the center of the top rack or on the very ceiling of your dishwasher. If there are any clogs within the wash arm or any debris build-up, it can prevent the top rack from cleaning.

Water must be able to freely flow from the wash arm within or above the top rack of your dishwasher, therefore, if it is obstructed in any way, it can prevent the top rack from being cleaned thoroughly. Therefore, locate the wash and remove it. Once the wash arm has been removed, dislodge any debris build-up that is present on the item, but also be sure to clear any debris that is located around the wash arm port as well.

Bosch Dishwasher Not Cleaning Bottom Rack

When it comes to the heavy cleaning within a Bosch dishwasher, most owners find that their biggest messes tend to end up on the bottom rack to be washed. This allows for large plates, bowls, and even cookware, but it also means that there is typically a harder amount of work to do within this area, making it incredibly inconvenient when the bottom rack stops cleaning. If your dishwasher isn’t cleaning the bottom rack, take a look below to see what you can do.

If your Bosch dishwasher isn’t cleaning the bottom rack, it could be that the wash arm at the bottom of your dishwasher has been clogged. To see if this is the case, remove the bottom rack and locate the wash arm which can then be removed and checked for any debris build-up.

Once you have the wash arm removed, clean the item thoroughly and free of any debris that is located within or around the piece. You also want to make sure to clean the area that you extracted the wash arm from, as debris build-up at the base can prevent water from flowing freely, which will prevent the wash arm from operating as effectively.

Bosch Dishwasher Not Cleaning Very Well

You may not be plagued with a specific washing problem when it comes to your Bosch dishwasher, but you might be experiencing an overall issue of the dishwashing simply not cleaning as it should. This can be incredibly frustrating when you pull dishes from the appliance and see that they simply are not cleaned well, causing you to either have to wash them by hand or run the dishwasher twice for the same load. If your dishwasher is simply not cleaning well, read below to see what you can do to increase its effectiveness and efficiency.

If your Bosch dishwasher is not cleaning very well, a clogged water inlet valve could be the issue. The water inlet valve is what allows water to flow into the dishwasher so enough water is present to clean dishes properly. Therefore, a clogged inlet valve can prevent this from happening.

When you find the water inlet valve, if you notice that the opening is in fact clogged, this item will need to be replaced rather than tinkered with to unclog it. This piece is very sensitive, therefore, jostling it to free it of any obstruction can easily damage it and cause the same issue even if the obstruction is removed. If you see that the water inlet valve is clogged, either find a way to replace it on your own or call a professional to have this repair completed.
