Netflix is installed on all Sony TVs by default. But, you do need to activate it. Here’s how to do that.

If you or someone in your home hasn’t used Netflix on your Sony TV before you will need to create a Netflix account. This is done by signing up on the official Netflix website.

Once you have set up an account, you will have a username and a password. You can use this user name and password to log in to Netflix on your Sony TV. If you already have an account, then simply input your login details into Netflix to use it.

After that you’re all set! And you can begin watching Netflix.

Why don’t I have Netflix on my Sony TV

All Sony TVs have Netflix on them by default. However, any Sony TVs made before 2011 don’t have Netflix, and it’s impossible to download Netflix as it is no longer supported. Sony made the announcement in 2019, and advised that it was due to a technical limitation.

Sony provides a list of TV models that can’t use Netflix here. But, you can get a Fire TV stick which turns virtually any TV into a smart TV, and you can download Netflix on it. They are around $50 and are well worth it.

Another good option is a Chromecast device, there are a range of different options. One of the most popular is the Google Chromecast. It uses the Google OS. Roku’s are also very popular and perform the same function as an Amazon Fire TV stick, and a Google Chromecast.

Have you ever found yourself needing to remove an app from your TV, like Netflix, but weren’t sure where to start? Understanding the right steps can save you time and avoid any frustration.

To uninstall Netflix on a Sony TV, you need to access the TV’s app settings. First, navigate to the ‘Home’ screen and select ‘Settings’. Then, go to ‘Apps’ and find Netflix in the list. Select Netflix and choose ‘Uninstall’ or ‘Delete’. This will remove the app from your TV. Note that the exact steps might vary slightly depending on your Sony TV model.

If the standard uninstall option is not available for Netflix, it might be because the app is pre-installed and considered a system app. In this case, you can disable the app instead of uninstalling it. To disable Netflix, go to the ‘Apps’ section in your TV settings, select Netflix, and choose ‘Disable’. This will stop the app from running and remove it from your home screen, effectively making it inactive.
