How To Reset Samsung Ice Maker

Resetting your Samsung ice maker isn’t something you need to do too often, but it can help correct glitches or problems the appliance may have. 

To reset a Samsung ice maker, first remove the ice bucket and then press and hold the TEST button. The machine will let out a chime to let you know the test is starting. Immediately put the ice bucket into place. The ice maker has now been reset.

To perform a hard reset on the Samsung Ice Maker, you will first need to remove the ice bucket. Once it has been removed, you can access the TEST button. To reset the ice maker, press and hold the TEST button until the appliance chimes.

Once it has chimed, place the ice bucket back onto the ice maker. The appliance has now been reset.

Remove the tray from the ice maker and press and hold the reset button for 10 to 15 seconds. The ice maker defrost will make a clicking sound which indicates that it has been reset. Release the button after you hear the click sound and then place the tray back into the ice maker.

Once the ice maker has been reset, it will begin the defrost process within 24 hours. The reset button on the Samsung ice maker defrost is located behind the ice tray. It is a blue button that is typically found near the top corner.

If you do reset the light without changing the filter then you will simply turn off the light while still using a dirty filter. 

Experts recommend changing the filter on your Samsung ice maker every 3 to 4 months. Changing the filter regularly helps to keep your ice tasting the best while also removing excessive minerals and chemicals often found in tap water. 

Samsung Ice Maker Reset Not Working

If you find yourself faced with a Samsung ice maker with a reset button not working, don’t fret! There are some things you can do to get the reset button working again.

To fix a Samsung ice maker reset not working, you must first unplug the appliance from the wall outlet and wait 2 to 5 minutes. After this allotted time, plug the Samsung appliance back into the wall and restart the reset process. 

If the reset button still doesn’t work then you may need to reach out to Samsung customer service for assistance. When your Samsung ice maker chimes after reset, that indicates that the ice maker is working properly and has been reset. If you hear the chime after reset, then your appliance if functioning has it should.

How To Reset Samsung Ice Maker After Power Outage

When a power outage occurs, it can wreak havoc on various appliances, including your Samsung ice maker.

To reset the Samsung ice maker after a power outage, remove the ice bucket and place it in a safe location. Press and hold the reset button until you hear a chime or clicking noise. Once you hear this noise, release the button and replace the ice bucket.

Like other types of Samsung appliances, the bottom freezer ice maker does have a reset button as well. This button, however, is usually found at or near the bottom of the ice maker. 

To reset the Samsung ice maker on the bottom freezer, first remove the ice bucket by gently lifting it up and out. Locate the Test button underneath the ice maker and press it. Keep the button pressed down until you hear a chime. The chime signals that the ice maker is working properly.

Once you have heard the chime, quickly put the ice bucket back into the correct position. The Samsung ice maker has now been reset.

How To Reset Samsung French Door Ice Maker

A Samsung French door ice maker is not immune to issues. While resetting the appliance is not something you have to do very often, it can help correct any glitches the ice maker may experience. 

To reset Samsung French door ice maker, press and hold down the reset button for about 2 to 4 seconds until the chime noise occurs. Release the button and place the ice bucket back into position. Wait for a few hours before allowing the ice maker to start making ice once again.

Depending on your model of Samsung refrigerator, you may have to press and hold the release button at the top of the bucket before you can remove the ice bucket. If so, simply hold the release button down while pulling the bucket out.
