LG Backup Not Working

Cell phones are no longer a commodity for only the rich. They have become more affordable over the years and are as common as wallets – just about everyone has one these days. One feature that makes cell phones valuable is their ability to transfer data to a new device.

If the LG backup is not working, a recent software update within the phone could be preventing the backup app from working. Use an alternative backup method to save and transfer data. Uninstall and reinstall the backup app to clear any glitches.

Our phones are more than just a means to make phone calls. We use them to take pictures, store data, conduct business, even do our banking. If your LG phone is not backing up your important data or transferring the data to a new device, this article will give you some ideas to troubleshoot.

LG Backup Not Connecting

Cell phones today do so much more than make phone calls. We can search the web, access data in the Cloud, pay our car insurance. The information our LG phone contains is precious to us. When it comes to backing that information up, it is imperative that the process works.

If the LG Backup is not connecting, make sure you are connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. If transferring data to another device, both devices need to be connected to the same network. The signal needs to be strong enough, and stable enough, to support the transfer of data.

Once you have confirmed you are on the correct network, restarting the router will help to improve the Wi-Fi signal strength. Simply unplug the router from its power source for at least 30 seconds and then plug it back in.

Application Error

LG Mobile Switch is the app LG uses to backup and transfer data to another device. If the app is not connecting, make sure the app was successfully downloaded. If there was any glitch in the Wi-Fi connection, the app may not be completely installed on our LG phone.

Backup Process

If you are transferring data to another device, the backup app will not work if both devices are not set to send and receive information. The following steps will walk you through the process of preparing both devices for the backup and transfer of data.

Step 1: Open the LG Mobile Switch app.

Step 2: Select ‘Wireless’.

Step 3: Select ‘Send’.

Step 4: On the new device, open the LG Switch app and select ‘Wireless > Receive.

Step 5: On both devices, tap on ‘Start’ to establish a connection between the two devices.

Step 6: On the current device, find the device you are transferring data to and click on ‘Sender’.

Step 7: Select the files you want to transfer/send and then click ‘Start’.

If you are using a USB cable to transfer data, make sure you are using an OTG connector with the USB cable.

Step 1: Open the LG Switch app on both devices.

Step 2: Select USB Cable.

Step 3: Use the USB OTG connector and USB to connect the two devices.

Step 4: On both devices, go to the Notification bar and select ‘USB Transfer Mode MTP (media transfer protocol).

Step 5: Click ‘Send’ on your current phone and ‘Receive’ on the other device.

Step 6: Select the files you want to send and then click ‘Start’.

LG Backup Update Not Working

Electronic devices today are programmed to automatically update when new software is available. These updates are crucial to keeping the app working properly and providing you with any new features within the app.

If the LG backup update is not working, your current LG phone may not be compatible with the update. LG phones manufactured earlier than the LG G4 do not have the required specs or memory space to support updates for the new versions of the backup applications.

When it comes to electronic devices that use Wi-Fi, all roads lead to the network. If you are not connected to the correct network, the backup app will not update and it will not work properly. Make sure the network has a good signal.

LG Backup App Not Working

Unfortunately, even newer versions of applications are not perfect. You have successfully downloaded the LG backup app only to find it is not working. Here are some possible reasons why the app is not working.

If the LG backup app is not working, the app could have a pending update that is interfering with its ability to work. Open the backup app and install any pending updates. If there are no updates pending, uninstall and reinstall the app to clear any glitches.

We often take for granted what is preinstalled on our cell phones. Your LG phone may not have the LG Switch application preinstalled. Go to Settings > General > Backup > LG Mobile Switch to see if the app is preinstalled. If the app is not there, you can download the app from the Google Play Store.

Process Not Started

When transferring data between two devices, there are several steps to start the process. One of the most overlooked steps is also the simplest of steps.

It is important that both devices have ‘Receive/Sender’ selected and that you have initiated the transfer process by hitting the ‘Start’ button on both devices.

Different Backup App

If you continue to have issues with the backup app not working, it may be time to try a new app.

One such alternative is to use the LG Bridge.

LG Bridge is what the name implies – it connects all your LG devices so you can manage, update and back up all your devices in one place.

Step 1: Connect your LG phone to your PC using a USB cable.

Step 2: Download the LG Bridge app onto your PC.

Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Step 4: Once the setup is complete, open the LG Bridge app on your phone.

Step 5: Select the ‘Back-Up Option’.

Step 6: Choose the files you want to backup and then click ‘Start’.

Step 7: When the selected files have successfully been transferred over to the PC, you will see checkmarks next to the files you selected.

If you are using an LG phone that is older than the LG G4, LG Bridge will not work for your device. You will need to use LG PC Suite instead. Once you download the app, you can follow the same steps above to complete the transfer/backup.

LG Backup Not Responding

It can be extremely frustrating when the LG backup app is not responding. We depend on all of our data being safely transferred and stored.

If the LG backup is not responding, make sure the Receive Data option was activated on the backup device. The backup process will not begin until the command to receive data has been given. If using a USB cable to transfer data, make sure you have selected the MTP or Transfer File mode.

Mobile devices are continually evolving. There are updates for the phone itself. Updates for each individual app. Updates to the safety features. All these updates can cause burps in the productivity of our phones.

If you have recently received an update, restart your phone to clear away any glitches and force out any remaining old software information. Open the LG backup app to see if the updates are still pending or were not successfully installed.

LG Backup Sender Not Working

The beauty of cell phones is that we can upgrade our phones without having to worry about losing data on the current phone. We trust that the transfer will happen and our new phone will allow us to continue business as usual. But if the backup sender is not working, that is another story.

If the LG backup sender is not working, make sure the two devices are connected to the same network. If using a USB cable to transfer information, make sure the cable is not damaged and is compatible with your new device.

An improper connection between the USB cable and the phone will inhibit the app’s ability to send information. If you do not have the original USB cable that came with the phone, make sure to purchase a newer USB cable that can support the amount of data that is being transferred.

LG Backup Keeps Crashing

Crashing is never a good thing. Crashing not only puts a strain on our devices but also increases the chances of us losing stored information in the process.

Restarting your LG phone can help to refresh your phone if it is getting overheated. This will also help to clear out any glitches that could be preventing the phone and app from communicating.

Reinstall App

If the app continues to crash despite restarting your phone, the problem could lie within the app itself. Uninstall and reinstall the app. Reinstalling the app will also force any pending updates that could be affecting the app.

Remove App

If the app continues to crash despite restarting your phone and reinstalling the app, the app may not be compatible with your phone. As applications improve, they require more from our cell phones. Try using another backup app to see if this resolves the issue.

If the LG backup app keeps crashing, make sure the Wi-Fi connection is strong enough and stable enough to support. If the connection drops during the backup process, the app will continue to crash. Reduce the number of connections on the network. Restart the router to increase signal strength.
