LG Monitor DisplayPort Not Working (How to Fix)

The DisplayPort on your LG monitor, or any monitor for that matter, is a digital display interface. Its purpose is to connect the monitor to a video source.

When your LG monitor DisplayPort isn’t working, make sure the monitor is using the right port. You can do this by checking in the Input Source menu. If it is selected as the correct port, the next option is to swap out the cable for a different one to see if the problem is a faulty cable.

Another potential cause for the problem is a bad port/cable connection. To test this, try one of the other connections, such as DHMI, DVI, DP, or VGA, and then check to see if the LG monitor DisplayPort is working.

If you are still having issues with the LG monitor DisplayPort not working (how to fix), try uninstalling and reinstalling the DisplayPort drivers. Drivers that are outdated and corrupted can interfere with the device’s ability to function properly.

Making sure you have the latest driver installed will go a long way to preventing problems. Even if the driver is updated, glitches and malfunctions can cause it to become corrupted. This is when uninstalling and reinstalling the driver can help, since this typically fixes problems associated with corrupted drivers.

LG Monitor DisplayPort No Signal Problem

A no signal message on your LG monitor is one of the most common problems experienced between monitors and DisplayPorts. Thankfully, this issue is usually not a serious issue and is one that can be corrected in a matter of minutes.

When the LG monitor DisplayPort has no signal, the issue could be caused by a bad connection. Try unplugging the cable, wait 15 seconds, and then plug it back into the monitor. This will force the LG monitor to detect the connection.

If the no signal problem contains, test to see if the issue is with the monitor and not the DisplayPort cable by using an HDMI cable instead. Once you have the cable swapped, try the DisplayPort once more.

LG Monitor Not Recognizing DisplayPort

Before you can even take advantage of the DisplayPort and what it has to offer, the LG monitor will first need to recognize the port. If the monitor cannot recognize the DisplayPort, then you won’t be able to connect it to a video source.

When your LG monitor won’t recognize the DisplayPort, check to ensure that the DisplayPort cable has been securely connected to both the monitor and the video source. If it has, unplug the cable and then wait 10 to 15 seconds before plugging it back into the LG monitor.

This action forces the monitor to re-detect the DisplayPort connection. Another potential cause of the LG monitor not recognizing the DisplayPort is that you have an outdated DisplayPort driver installed.

Outdated drivers can quickly cause problems with your LG monitor. That is why it is important to ensure all your drivers are up-to-date, including the driver for the DisplayPort.

LG Monitor DisplayPort To HDMI Not Working

Some people feel that the DisplayPort is a better option than HDMI, while others argue that HDMI is superior. No matter how you feel about the two, did you know that you could potentially use the two together with the help of an adapter?

If the HDMI specification isn’t supported by the DisplayPort signal, then the two may have the ability to work in conjunction with one another. You may have to use a different active adapter that converts the HDMI signal to the DisplayPort.

Before you rush out and buy another adapter, however, you should first try to disconnect and reconnect the cables, ensuring all are connected properly. If the issue still arises, try power cycling through all the devices.

LG Monitor No Sound On DisplayPort

In order to properly use your LG monitor with the DisplayPort, the monitor will need to have sound. After all, you won’t be able to fully experience the video without sound.

When the LG monitor has no sound on the DisplayPort, it is usually because the default playback device setting has not been changed. Check to ensure that the correct device is selected in the playback settings. Another potential cause is that the LG monitor is muted.

Open the OSD settings on your LG monitor and ensure the MaxxAudio setting is listed as On.

LG Monitor No DisplayPort/DP Cable Error

A DisplayPort/DP cable error message can quickly put a stop to any plans you may have had about connecting your LG monitor to a video source. Thankfully, this problem is usually not a hard one to fix, though you may need to purchase a new cable.

An LG monitor with a no DisplayPort/DP cable error is typically caused by a cable that is not plugged completely into the port. Try unplugging and then replugging the cable into the port, making sure it is snug and secure. A damaged, frayed, or broken cable can also cause this error to appear.

If this is the cause, then you will have to purchase a new cable. Additionally, if the LG monitor’s DisplayPort itself is damaged, then the screen will show that message as well.

LG Monitor Incorrect DisplayPort Version Message

One of the most frustrating things to experience is when the monitor shows an incorrect DisplayPort version message even when you know that you have the correct DisplayPort.

The first thing to check is that the DisplayPort version is selected in the LG monitor’s settings. This is typically found under the General Settings section in the LG monitor’s settings menu. If the settings are correct, ensure you are using the most up-to-date driver installed.

An outdated driver will cause the monitor to show an incorrect DisplayPort derision message, as will a corrupted driver. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the DisplayPort driver. This can help clear any glitches from the driver that can prevent the monitor from detecting that you have the correct DisplayPort.
