Vizio TV YouTube Not Working

Youtube first became available to those with a computer, then with a phone, and now it can even be accessed from smart TVs. This gives users the ability to see content straight from their Vizio TV screen without having to mirror the image, but what if YouTube isn’t working?

If YouTube is not working on your Vizio TV try signing out and back in, restart your internet, restart the application, check the speed of your internet connection, upgrade to a faster connection, or update the application.

YouTube is an online video sharing platform which allows those uploading the ability to interact with their audience while those simply using the platform can see just about any sort of content they are in search of. With over one billion hours of Youtube viewed around the world every single day, it would make sense that Vizio TV owners would want this application to function properly. Read below if you own a Vizio TV but have found that the app is no longer working.

When you own a Vizio TV, especially one that is a smart TV, you should be able to access hundreds of different applications directly from your TV screen. This allows users to not tap into their regular cable or satellite television, but have access to applications that expand what they are able to watch with a simple download and the click of a button. If you own a Vizio TV and are a user of YouTube but notice it is suddenly not working, what can be done?

If YouTube on your Vizio TV is not working, one of the first things you need to do is sign out of the application and sign back in. Often, the application can simply falter with automatic login which requires a simple fix of entering your username and password into the YouTube app.

If you are able to log out and log back in but are still not able to get the application working, check then to see if your internet is working properly. To verify this, try using the internet from another device in your home and see if it functions properly. If not, you will need to go about resetting the internet by unplugging your router directly from the power source for 60 seconds, then plugging it back in and allowing it to reset before trying to access YouTube again.

To access the Youtube App from your Vizio TV, simply press the ‘Home’ button on your remote control which will immediately allow you to scroll to the right and select “YouTube.” After you have selected YouTube, there may be a few moments of loading which may cause a partially black screen with the YouTube emblem on the screen, but this should pass quickly. If you try to open the app but there is only a black screen that will not load, read below to find the fix.

If the YouTube app on your Vizio TV is only displaying a black screen, you will need to exit out of YouTube and restart the application. To do this, navigate to ‘Settings’ within your TV then open ‘Apps’ > ‘Youtube’ > ‘Force Stop’ > go back and open ‘Clear Data’ > ‘OK.’

Once the Youtube app on your Vizio TV has been reset, you can then go back into the application by using the ‘Home’ button on your remote to see if the black screen is still present. If the issue has still not been resolved, try turning your TV off and back on once you have restarted the application. By doing this, it can cause a quick internal reset which will allow the application to be made aware of the reset itself.

Vizio TV YouTube Slow

One of the greatest advantages of being able to use YouTube from your Vizio TV is that you are always connected to the internet on this device. Gone are the days of having to search for a WiFi network or reconnect your device to the internet, as your TV is already set up to support this application. However, if you get into YouTube from your Vizio TV but notice that the application is suddenly running slowly, could the internet be the cause?

If YouTube is slow on your Vizio TV, one of the most typical problems is your internet. To get the application working at a proper speed again, you can start by restarting your router (see “Vizio TV YouTube Not Working”) and if this does not work, check the speed of your connection.

In order to stream content smoothly from YouTube, content providers recommend a consistent connection of at least 1.5Mbps – 3Mbps and up to 10Mbps. You can test your internet speed on a few different websites to see your connection speed, but if this is not something you wish to do on your own, simply call your provider to see what your connection is working at. If the connection speed is not up to par, consider upgrading to a faster connection.

YouTube Vizio TV No Sound

When watching YouTube from your Vizio TV, of course, you would expect to see the proper video that encompassed the content you are currently viewing. The picture within any application is imperative to the user’s experience, but without sound, the video may as well not be playing. If you open the YouTube app on your Vizio TV and no longer are able to hear the sound that goes along with that video, what can you do to fix the problem?

If YouTube on your Vizio TV has no sound, this is often caused by the video on YouTube being muted. Some videos start out muted directly within the application or are muted without the individual knowing, which is the cause of no sound. Simply tap the sound icon on the video to unmute it.

If you unmute the video within the application itself or notice that it was never muted, you then need to check and see if the TV has been muted. Simply press the volume up or volume down button on your remote control to see if this changes the sound. If it does not, power cycle the TV by turning the TV off, unplugging it from power, holding the on/off button down on the TV for 10-15 seconds, plug it back into the power outlet, then turn the TV back on.
